Afternoon Chaps,
Quick question, what are you doing in the off season to keep fit or improve fitness? My routine is as follows: Monday - 6 mile run with 4 hill sprints then home to do situps and press ups Tuesday - ride to running track and do the following: 6 100 sprints, 20 burpees, 20 press ups, 20 tuck jumps, 1*400mts, 20 inside squats, 20 outside squats, 20 tuck jumps, 20 tricep dips, 40 sit ups to side, 60 leg raises, 60 leg cross overs, 1 min plank, 100 touch hill sit ups, 2 mile bike ride, 2 rounds of skipping Wednesday Go to the gym, do a four mile run with hill sprints, then a full circuit and some weight training. I try to keep my weight training to low reps high weights. I normally work on shoulders and core strength during this period. Thursday Back over the running track for sprints and 60 situps, 40 square situps, 40 side sit ups, 20 normal press ups, 20 eagle press ups, 20 one hand infront of the other press ups, 2 mins footwork, 20 tricep dips, 40 situps through legs Is that a good routine? What are your routines like? I add different excercises to keep it different and if my body is aching I will switch days and rest. I am tempted to go back to the gym full time and do weights to get stronger but I cant decide if it is worth it or if I am getting enough from one session a week. (some of the names of those excercises are wrong as I dont know the proper names so just make them up ha!) |

Usually in the offseason, a good plan is to hit the things that you don't have the time to in the season.
So it would be strength, or conditioning, or weight gain, etc. |

Resting from boxing. Just doing 5 a side twice a week. No boxing for a month for me. You need to rest from it. You can get the fitness back in a few weeks. Just light shadow boxing is all you need. IMO you should not join a weight gym it will only make you slower and less flexible not to mention heavier.

I think I am going to avoid joining the gym again and just focus on my running and circuits. I only started boxing in March so I sort of feel I have a lot to do fitness wise (all in my head as the people at boxing said I trained hard1) |

Just conditioning for me, sprints, running, anything that will help with fitness and conditioning. In my opinion conditioning is one of the things in boxing you can always improve.

Hey Red Boy (I hope you're not a Liverpool fan
I always try to encourage boxers to work on their core skills development during off-season, with a basic core level of fitness being maintained. Why is it good to focus on skills development? Well, during the season we can often get caught up in the fight circuit, where you are never more than a few weeks away from an opponent trying to remove your head from your shoulders, so every second in the gym matters. In the off-season the pressure is off, a prefect time to kick back and develop your skills. Check out the link below for lots of video-based ideas on your core skills, any questions, post them back here and I'll try my best to respond: Learn how to box with MyBoxingCoach Cheers Fran |

I have increased my shadow boxing as I wasnt getting enough of that in. Along with hill sprints I would say shadow boxing is the hardest thing im doing at the moment, it is so tiring. And no im not a liverpool fan haha Interested in developing the right uppercut, been working on that quite a bit since Last friday. |
