With the win, organizers say Gunn claimed the vacant bareknuckle boxing title that was last held by John L. Sullivan. The bout was waved off after Gunn dropped Stewart twice in round three. “Waking up the next day my hands were a bit sore, but that was the extent of the damage,” said Gunn. “Neither of us fighters suffered any real damage, due to the safety precautions that were put into place.” - Fight news

Promoter Dave Feldman is confident that the sport will catch on.
“I think the way that we’re doing this, making sure everybody’s medically cleared and having everybody train the right way, I just think that we have something that’s going to eventually take off a little bit. I think it’s going to be a nice sport. People are always looking for the most extreme thing and how do you get more raw and more pure than bare knuckle boxing? I think it’s something that people will want to see,” Feldman said.

My guess would be that someone in the commission had his pockets and ears filled that this could the next big thing akin to cage fighting. wont happen, but 800k viewers at $10 a pop aint a bad little paycheck.

Fort McDowell is not part of Arizona, it is tribal land of the Yavapai nation & the tribal council decide what happens on their land.
That's why there are casinos built on tribal land all over the USA, they are not subject to state laws.
