Default Re-entry by fire...bad idea?

I haven't trained in almost a year, but I noticed when I did most of my growth came from sparing.I was wondering if it would be a terrible idea to jump in and do a light spar my first day back in the gym. I know this is kind of foolish, but I just wanna hop back in there again. When I try to train with bags and drills, I just notice how "off" everything is and get discouraged. If I keep up cardio and resume Shadow boxing, would that at least be adequate preparation?

You know what, I've been wondering the same thing myself.

I'm sure my old gym buddies would love to beat the hell out of me and have a few laughs at my out of shapeness though, so I'll probably do it.
