Default How good was Simon Brown?

Was he potentially the best of the late 80's welterweights? Was he weight drained for Buddy McGirt? Would he have been better off at light middleweight earlier on in his career?

I remember feeling that he would have beat Lloyd Honeyghan and Marlon Starling around 1987/'88.

From what I can remember Simon Brown was a good technical boxer, and a solid hitter. He threw decent combinations and body punches.

I consider Starling a better fighter, but i do rate both highly, especially Marlon.

Does your ranking have anything to do with their fight?

Why would it when Brown was so green?

I was just seeing if you were basing your ranking of him over Brown because of that fight. I don't think it does either, and wouldn't mind either fighter over the other in someone's ranking.

I think any version of McGirt beats him, but yes, Brown had to come down from 178 to 147 for that fight. That had to affect him.
