Default Weight - What Fighters Have Moved...

Down, as opposed to up?

Glen Johnson started his career at 195 pounds, I believe.

Hopkins also fought up there well above MW at the start of his career.

I've heard that Jake LaMotta started as a light heavy also.

Bob Fitzsimmons steped down to take advantage of the newly formed light heavyweight division

Jerry Quarry and Leon Spinks both steped down to take advantage of the newly formed cruiseweight division.

I often felt that the 195 division was created with Leon in mind.

Emile Griffith was all over the scale.

Started as welter Champ, went up to Middleweight Champ, then back down to Welterweight challenger (Napoles) then back up to middlewight
challenger, then winning the Jr. Middleweight Title at the end of his career.

Hank Armstrong Featherweight Champ...Welterweight Champ....
then Lightweight champ.

The Cruiserweights was created for small heavies rather than lazy Light Heavies. The one world class Cruiser who stands out taking that journey was Orlin Norris.

Marvelous Marvin Hagler was in the 165lb. division in the amateurs, but he moved down to 160 as a pro.
