This fight was the definition of 'annihilation'. I really didn't expect it to be that one-sided. Just goes to show you how good Jones is. What do you think of his performance?
Also, I haven't followed Shogun's career closely, but from what I've seen he's one of the toughest fighters. Apart from this destruction, and of course the fight where he broke his arm vs Coleman, was there any other fight where someone came even close to doing this to him? Hurting him and giving him huge problems in a fight? |

Nobody's actually giving Jones credit for that win anymore, apparently Rua was fat and injured. I thought it was a sensational win, that knee he landed straight away pretty much sealed the deal. Rua never recovered and he was too much for him.

I voted great. If/when Jones molests him again, we'll call it extraordinary.
It's a shame there are detractors who want to take away from his performance by blaming Shoguns poor condition/lay off/injuries, whatever. Fact is, Jones dominated Shogun like no one has ever done before, and probably won't do again, for the foreseeable future. |

I had never seen Shogun so out of his element like he did against Jones. Its like he didnt even have a chance. Shogun is still a monster. But Jones just tear him apart. The flying knee at the beginning didnt help either.

He crushed him. Outclassed him in every aspect and made him look like an amateur fighter in comparison. The problem is, the world if full of Shogun nuthuggers who are ready to proclaim that version of Shogun shot and injured, and the Forrest Griffin beating version (one fight later, mind you) the second-coming of Christ.
I like Shogun, too, but there's no way you can take credit from Jones. He has slaughtered guys who just don't get slaughtered. |

We seen what Forrest Griffin did to Shogun Rua after coming off the knee surgery years ago. The rematch was a different story though.
I voted great. It would have been extraordinary if it was over a 100% shogun, still by far Jones best win. I would like to see a rematch between the two fighters, I'm willing to bet a peak Shogun will be more competitive the next time around. |

Jones on that night would have done that to any version of Rua. Rua was NOT out of shape, past his prime, or anything. He was coming off the best performance of his career!
How anyone can rate Jones's performance as anything under extraordinary is ridiculous. The guy made Shogun look like he didn't even belong in the same cage as him. He destroyed him standing and took him down at will, then beat the living shit out of him on the ground. Remember how highly ranked Shogun was before that fight? See what Shogun did to Machida and Forrest? Yeah, Jones annhilated him! |
