As an amateur, the older, more established Pryor could barely squeeze out a decision over a 17 year old Hearns ..

It took Pryor a while and a cheat 2 get 2 an older , original Featherweight in Arguello late , why would he get 2 Hearns @ 8 or 9 rds ?!?!
![]() Also , which was my 1st thought upon reading the first post of d thread , why didn't Duran swarm Hearns really ? Duran >>>>>>>>> Pryor . Pryor would have been stopped & ruined by Arguello if it wasn't 4 that black bottle . Actually he still was ruined , but less than what would have happened without d bottle . Pryor couldn't beat absolutely no1 of note and is grotesquely overrated . Pryor was/is 3 years older than Hearns which is why he was more matured when they fought , swomething like a nearly grown man vs a young teenager . Still Hearns lasted d distance even then , not because of his greatness but rather due 2 his size . Also 4 triangle theorists , Hearns beat Bobby Joe Young @ d amateurs , and we all know what happened when Bobby Joe met Pryor @ d professionals .

And now I got another thought : the Barkley and Leonard rematches .
As shot as they were themselves in these rematches , Hearns was too . And Yet he was competitive vs. Barkley and beat Leonard but Pryor would have swarmed him into submission @ 8 or 9 rounds . |

Hearns probably beats him just as quick as he beat Duran. Pryor was far too easy to hit, and Tommy was far too good of a puncher.

Hearns by KO.
After his career I think even Pryor admitted that Hearns and Leonard outgrew him and it would have been pretty much impossible to beat them as pros. Anyone who has any doubts should just think about all the rights that Arguello hit Pryor with. Now imagine it coming from a taller, faster, boxer with a much longer reach who is one of the p4p hardest punchers of all time and has a deadly right hand. What exactly is Pryor's edge? That Hearns was KO'd once at WW by a guy who could hit pretty hard at WW in the 14th round? |

I don't think this one is that difficult. Pryor beat him as an amateur, I will take Pryor. Hearns' greatest weapon especially at 147 was the intimidation factor. that would be a zero factor with Pryor. Pryor would've have been on him from the opening bell, not just at the end of the fight like Sugar Ray.
