Default Martinez vs Floyd, Manny. Why?

This might not be worth the thread space but I would really like for some of you guys to explain to me why the boxing community as well as the fighters themselves have been suggesting a catch-weight showdown between Middleweight King S. Martinez and P4P Kings Pacman, and Floyd. The size difference is 4 - 5 inches in height, and about 25 - 30 pounds in natural weight. So why even think about these fights when the size difference is so great? It makes me think - Well its the same reason why Willie Pep never fought Ray Robinson. Thoughts...

It's because, other than each other, Floyd and Manny's nearest challengers haven't got a hope in hell of giving them a good fight (excluding JMM against Pacquiao). The likes of Berto, Khan, Ortiz, Bradley, etc, would all get smashed to pieces. So, being fed up of not seeing them fight each other, our desperation of seeing them challenged, leads us to wander two weight divisions higher to a Sergio Martinez.

Thats understandable. You don't think Khans size and youth would give either of them any trouble?

But I'm with you, though. I don't think Floyd and Manny should be obliged fight at such a weight and size disadvantage against someone like Martinez.

If Khan wasn't as vulnerable as he is, I think he'd be a pretty tough fight for both. But that chin is a massive burden. At best, I think he'd be be competitive against Manny for the first half; using his height, speed, reach, jab and movement to win most of the early rounds. But once Manny makes a few adjustments and begins catching up, I don't see Khan being durable enough to withstand the onslaught. 10th round stoppage win for Manny, me thinks. And a similar pattern would form against Floyd, as well. Although, I'd probably bank on Floyd figuring Khan out earlier, and winning more rounds than Manny would. He too would probably stop him by the 10th round.

Interesting predictions. I would say late stoppage for Manny as well, but maybe Khan can get in a knockdown before the end. I think Khan lasts 12 rounds with Floyd, probably winning 2 - 4 rounds in the first half of the fight due to his size and power. Either fight would be a pretty big draw in 2012 as long as Khan wins his next couple of fights.
