Whatever happened to Mike Marrone?

I heard this kid had some skills although I never got to see him fight. Trained with Lou Duva I believe, so I had hopes for him. Then he lost to the unbeaten Italian Pianeta and has since then vanished it seems. Did he retire or what? What's the story here?

Someone said King is giving him a cruiserweight title shot even though he has lost 2 of his last 3 fights and has no talent at all..
