Default Cutting / Gaining Weight

Can you guys help and educate Leon. Leon was wondering about the techniques of dehydrating/rehydrating oneself. For example, when Ortiz weighed in Fri night he was 147 then rehydrated back to 160+. How do boxers do that? Do they exercise in the sauna? Do they starve themselves the nights before?

Only young boxers can do it. Once you are over 30 it's really bad for your body. It's bad for your kidneys, it's bad for your body overall, and eventually you pay a price for dehydrating to make weight.

Ricky Hatton is an example. The more you swing up and drop down drastically the shorter your career. The best boxers stay within 10lbs of ring weight all year.

But how do they do it? What do they do? Not eat then eat like crazy before fight? Stay in sauna all day? Throw up?

combination of fasting and water loss... both are temperary solutions and can be quickly added back with eating and hydration... it is not the healthiest way to do it, but it is effective for its purpose. which is to lose a certain amount of weight in a short period of time, for a short period of time..

There was a guy in a sweat suit riding a bike in a sauna, is that a technique they usually use? And is it really hard to cut 13-15 pounds like Ortiz did?

they don't cut all of it at once. It's gradual and then they'll cut the last bit of weight before the weighin by running in sweat suits or in saunas. They'll also watch their diet as well.

Carbohydrates make you retain water also, so once they gain weight, they can eat a bunch of crabs and shoot up in weight again. If you want to see an example of this, go a whole day eating the normal amount of carbs you'd normally eat, but cut your carb intake and up your protein and fat intake. You may lose a pound or 2 the next day

Don't eat carbs. Don't drink any water. Don't eat any salt. Take certain pills which are known to dehydrate you, and have an IV ready after the weigh in ti rehydrate and eat a lot of pasta and carbs the morning of the fight.

You can cut 15lbs in a week. It's not healthy but it can be done. And if you are on steroids it can be done without consequence.

Depends how much you have to.

Usually includes stopping eating and drinking a certain amount of time before the fight.

Light exercise, like running in a sweatsuit.

Sauna is usually the last result.

My friend who is in MMA goes down from 200-205 to 185 for some fights. And sauna is usually his main source just cause its so much weight.

It's like the Keto diet.

If you eat 2200 calories in a day.

You could have 150g of protein = 600 calories
80g fat = 720
220g carbs = 880

That would be enough for you to tell the difference. You could eat some nuts (no homo) for fat and skinless chicken breast and fish for protein without too much fat and carbs in it. Then almost everything you eat has carbs in it

The trainer/conditioner guy who used to work with Cintron -- I think he's Conditioner101 or something like that -- did an incredible write-up of what they did with Cintron's weight before a fight and posted it here.

I've never seen anything like it. I can't recall how much the rapid loss was but it was much more than I'd ever heard of before.

I do remember some words to the effect of wringing out a wet sponge (water loss in muscle).

Hello to all! Well i think the fastest way to do this to your body is to take diuretics (furosemide, hydrochlorthiazide are common ones) which make your kidney pee out water. then go out in hot weather and exercise- you'll sweat out more water, and also incur evaporative loss through respirations.
