These rankings are based on the original 8 weight classes, fighters are ranked based on the their ring weight, I know some fighters at smw for example would go down to middle rather than fight at lhw, but this is just based on their current fighting weight.
I think a ranking like this really makes the current scene look a lot stronger as it eliminates a lot of the shit from the top tens, and the champions would be forced to face opponents from these top tens. Heavyweight 175+ Wladimir Klitschko 1. Vitali Klitschko 2. Robert Helenius 3. Tomasz Adamek 4. Alexander Povetkin 5. Eddie Chambers 6. Alexander Dimitrenko 7. Tyson Fury 8. Yoan Pablo Hernandez 9. I've done a thread like this before in the past and came to the conclusion tha boxing ain't what it used to be
Quote:
no, move Mosley down, he hasn't won a fight in 2 years. Put Mike Jones in there and Zaveck

If i spent a bit longer working on them i'm sure they would look very different. But that wasnt really the point of the thread, its mainly to demonstrate that the talent is still there just, more thinly spread over more weight divisions and governing bodies. |

LHW looks real deep.
Not sure why people are putting Bute ahead of Froch though!?!? Apparently fighting the best and winning isn't that important..... HW and MW are still thin. |

I think the problem with HW is the lack of a good #3 and #4, if povetkin had wins against helenius, dimitrenko, adamek to go with his wins over byrd chambers and chagaev he would look really good, and make a massive difference to people's perception of the division. It actually has a lot of depth, there a lot of hws I left out and a lot of good cruiserweights too. Its just lacking someone to beat all the contenders and really deserve a number 3 rank, like the 70s had norton and frazier

I understand your point about Bute and Froch, froch does have some better wins I just think Bute looks more impressive and more skilled. I dont think froch has beaten anyone bute wouldnt. |

Hell, I'd pick even this faded version of John to beat half those guys. Gamboa would tear him to shreds, but I'd favor him against Salido even (which is just a bad style matchup for Salido), and he'd still dominate guys like Dib.
