Wlad rates higher for me.

Both champs for a similar amount of time but wlad is still ongoing so is certainly going to overtake him.

Both fought the best of their contenders bar one man, the difference being james openly ducked johnson whereas vitali is on record saying he has no interest in fighting wlad.

H2h the current version of wlad is somewhat of a monster; on par with lewis and holmes. Jeffries isn't far behind but he's far enough.

Both top 20 but wlad is knocking on the door of top 10.

It might be interesting to swop their title challengers around and speculate how each would do with them?

EG, Wlad v Fitz, Jeffries v Haye ect.

Problem for Vlad is Jeff can take a punch and doesn't tire and does not get discouraged. That means somewhere, sometime, Jeff will catch up to him and nail him good and hard to the body and head, and when that happens, say goodnight for Vlad. Jeff walked around between fights at about 250 so he was a big enough person to handle Vlad's size. Vlad on the other hand needs to keep a super slow pace and cannot get hit very much or he's a goner. Frisky guys who can take a punch and even dish out a solid punch, who are in shape, have proven that. Just ask Ross Puritty, Lamon Brewster, and Corrie Sanders. And if Vlad tries to clinch and wrestle with Jeff, he will find that Jeff can handle that game just fine, and not wear out. At least any version of Jeff 1904 or before.

But do you think that time would occur before 12 rounds? I think wlad's conditioning over the last 5 years has been exemplary.

Disagree about his conditioning improving. I just think he's slowed his pace down, learned how to use ring generalship to hide the fact that he has a limited chin and cannot handle a fast pace. So he tries to peck away with one punch at a time, move, grab, keep pace slow. And luckily for him, there are very few fighters today who can expose him.

Yes, but what about Volo exposing Jeffries' big weakness that he was lucky enough not to have any elite fighters expose, apollak? His shortness is conveniently being forgotten, here. A very, very short man. Volo has a poor chin...but he's very, very tall. Jeffries' didn't have any ELITE fighters that could expose him with their elite tallness. Now, a slightly taller Johnson dressed him down, and he was the first great, prime, even slightly tall fighter that Jeffries faced. And he was a midget, compared to the ATG tallness of Volo, who was far, far taller. If you will, picture either fighting the Sugar Man. Now, that should put it all in some sort of perspective, yeah?

Quite a bold hypothesis that one adam.

Do you think james would get to him before the twelth though?

Jeffries could take a punch against 165lb super middleweights, but against a 6'6 250lb monster like Wladimir? That's a whole different ballgame.

I have Jeffries at 12 and Wlad at 15.

Wlad would beat Jeffries I think.

Jeffries would adjust his pace to a fifteen rounder and even while losing the early rounds would be slowly wearing the big fellow down. I think Jeff stops him arouund 11-12.

What's your criteria? I think, like me, you have a fairly rigid system you stick to right?

I measure it on victories, prime losses, years they held the lufcrazy championship, my take on how they fare against each other and lastly any intangibles (for instance regaining the crown, defeating everyone they fought, being the smaller man etc)

My criteria for entry is that at some point they held my championship, so I don't rank those nearly men like dokes, jeannette, spoon etc.
