Wlad could beat those over the hill midgets that Jeff called opponents in a single afternoon.

This is a joke, right/ What dominant, real-sized heavyweight did Jeffries ever stop, let alone stop within 12 round?

More and more, this board resembles a fantasy roll playing game. Have fun with your 12-sided dice.

Part of me thinks this 245lbs plus surgeon would ruin Jeffries .
The other part says, no one has yet been willing to take the punishment to get inside and get to work on this ,oh so reluctant "close quarter warrior."
I believe Jeffries would be willing to pay the price necessary to get in close ,where he could be punishingly effective.
I will delay my final answer, in the hope I can be persuaded , [ one way ,or the other ]by more learned heads.

You're right about a fantasy. Upon further thought I cant see ole glass jaw going 12 rounds with a real heavyweight.

Jefferies wouldn't know what hit him. You see guys with very good head movement failing to get in on top of him. Jim would be reaching, Klitschko would step back and deliver a 250lb jab. Jefferies, with his hand dangling by his waist, throwing horribly off balance, wide punches that an amateur could counter would look laughable trying to hit any good heavyweight from the Louis era onwards.

Are you trying to tell me this guy would beat Wladimir Klitschko?

This man would be laughed out of a gym after being beaten simply by basic boxing skills. It's primitive. It's too old.

I never thought I'd say this, but quite simply, an ATG from 100 years ago will never beat an ATG from today. And you're a clown, mainly for picking every single older fighter over every single modern fighter.
Put the vid up of Dr. Glass jaw being counted out goof. How come the ibro rates Jeffries so high? Are you another evolutionist? lol, if boxing "evolves" anymore it will become extinct. I bet you think shaqille O'neal would be a great fighter, heh?

Depends on rules, types of era gloves, ete.

I favor Wlad in todays rules, but give Wlad the smaller horsehair gloves, and put him in a ring that was salted down with raisen, out door arena in the heat, and make it a 45 round bout, with no breaks in holding, or tied up, and I might just favor Jeff in this one.

There was a lot more holding and hitting back in Jeff's day than today.

Boxing was a completely other sport back than.

Jeff for the most part took it easy on his sparring partners or else he'd have none. Plus, that was filmed just 2-3 days before the fight, so naturally he was just getting in a little light work. He was just messing around. You cannot use a friendly spar as a way to gauge him at his best when he is punching to hurt his opponent.

What the uneducated eye might not notice from this clip is that Jeff did not get hit. At just the right moment, he either moved his head, punched, moved away, or lifted his arm up to block or clinch. That's ring generalship that a young pugilist might not appreciate. You can see some of that same head movement used by Dempsey or Frazier.

I don't think Vlad could last 20 rounds, but I know Jeff could. And I know Vlad has been knocked out by much smaller men, men no bigger than Jeffries (Brewster and Purritty), so if they can do it, then I think Jeff could too. And Jeff could fight a much faster pace if he knew it was only 12 rounds. In his prime, despite no mouthpiece, getting hit with 5-ounce gloves, and fighting 20 and 25 round bouts, no one decked him even once, let alone stop him.

So in all honesty, without any bias, I can say that if they were to fight today, my money would be placed on Jeffries.

And why not mention that as well as the no 1 contender, Wlad also refused to fight his long term no 2 contender - Nicolai Valuev...And now i think about it, why isnt Wlad fighting the best big challengers of his time and instead fighting smaller gus. In Jeffries case it was because the big guys were getting KOd. Mormeck is nowhere near as highly regarded as many big guys (or monroe for that matter), What about Helenius, Adamek, Dimitrenko or even some of the other young unproven talent if you must fight a nobody. And what about some of the former world champions, why didnt he fight Holyfield, when Holyfield beat the WBA champ for all intensive purposes and still had a tiny bit left, or even earlier, when Holy was still a decent name and draw. Why did he duck Tyson and Lewis on the way through. Why does he still (even when they are old) steer clear of anyone with an excellent and proven chin and big punch. EVen guys like Tua, McCall and Rahman are at least tests for it,

Wlad is building a good legacy, and it is getting much better every year. It is though in its own time quite simply not as conclusive as Jeffries reign was in its time. There are some reasons why Wlad could rate higher, but to be honest, they are not very convincing, although they are improving.

I think that we have to rate Jeffries higher based on three factors.

A. The fact that he was never beaten or dropped before facing Jack Johnson.

B. A prety clean sweep of the top contenders before Johnson came allong.

C. The fact that he acomplished all this with relativley little ring experience.

You mean cruisers and midleweights like Chris Byrd, David Haye and Thomas Admek?

I honestly think that Jeffries best opponents could have beaten Wlads.
