Anaclet Wamba

Any thoughts on the French Cruiserweight champion of the early 90's.... he had some good wins as the 190 pound champ in Italy and in Argentina against hometown fighters Duran and Dominguez... why did he retire without losing his title?

Looked pretty ordinary losing to Horace Notice, but became a much better fighter for that defeat. Quality wins in Italy made his name, the Maynard and Washington fights put him on par with Norris IMO.

With hindsight beating Dominguez in Argentina looks not to shabby on the resume either.

So you'd expect him 2 split 2 SDs with Tucker , 1 SD win over McCall , decisions over Ferguson , Page , Snipes , give Golota a draw (Golota didn't beat him) and then last d distance with Akinwande ?

Even 4 drawing with a 9 years younger Jirov he deserves respect , just @ d end of his career , but his career was so unreal that d mere mentioning of Jirov seems like ridiculing it .
He also stopped Arthur Williams whom was d 1st man 2 beat Chris Byrd .

I meant at the time, Norris was impressive demolishing Williams in the rematch, but he was a lucky boy to get the decision first time round. Wamba was more consistent at the time, all be it unable to put in the type of performance Norris showed in the Williams rematch.

On a neutral venue I would say the fight in 94 would of been a pick-em, with Wamba beating a Norris of WilliamsI, but losing to Norris of WilliamsII.

How would Wamba have done against Norbert Ekassi had they fought?.. Two Frenchman but Ekassi had an early death... wold have loved to see this fight
