Default Say Hendo Finds a Way to Defeat Bones

Would that make him your Pound for Pound greatest of all time?

It's obviously a theoretical question, as I personally feel Jones is just too young, fast and strong for Dan at age 41. But imagine that he lands the H-Bomb and puts Jones to sleep, would anyone even have a case against him being ranked the best? Sure, he doesn't have the long unbeaten streaks of Fedor or Silva, but the level of competition he has faced along the way is far superior to either of those guys. Anybody care to disagree?

Could argue for Hendo to be it already unbelievable record already (without Jones) and amazing consistency while adapting to the sport the whole time. Not many can do or have done what Hendo is doing add in that he is 41 and its just hard to even think about

If he somehow managed to beat Jones, he's in the conversation for best all time.

I don't know how likely that is but we don't know shit about Jones' Chin and we know that Hendo has a hellacious, atomic bomb of a right, so it's not out of the realm of possibility. In that case, yes, I could definitely make an argument for Hendo as THE greatest ever.

Jones is way too big for Hendo. If Shoguns bigger than Hendo and Bones dwarfs Shogun it would be a mismatch because Jackson has already proven that you cant reach and get inside Bones.

What Hendo needs to do is go back to 185 where he belongs and beat Silva to be arguably the GOAT>

He would be GOAT in my eyes if he did it.

Tho i'm afraid he would beat Hendo's body up and make him gass as quick as he did Shogun.

He fights flat at 185 and simply doesn't have the cardio after the weight cut.

Anderson would KO him in a rematch after Dan gasses.

I think you're probably right, but as MM said, Hendos right hand is otherworldly and he had no problem finding Shoguns chin for the first three rounds tonight. If it wasn't for Mauricios cast iron jaw he would have been out, **** Hendo landed half a dozen shots that would have put 99.99% of other fighters out cold. Using Rampage as an example is pointless as he simply cannot pull the trigger anymore. Of course, it may well be the case that Hendo doesn't get close enough to lay a finger on Jones, but he's the most able of the current contenders to give it a bash. I think we'll be able to tell better after Jones v Machida, as he is the other guy in the division I see being able to land something noticeable on Bones.

Absolutely, McKay. As long of a shot as Machida OR Hendo seem against Jones, we don't know if the guy can take a punch and they're the two best options to give us an answer on that because they present enough of a difficulty in the clinch to where Jones might actually be forced to stand and trade for stretches. Rampage was somewhat of that because he does have solid takedown defense but as you said, he can't pull the trigger and is clearly shot. Hendo and Machida both have great timing, the key to beating a massive reach, and Hendo's best punch is the overhand which is the classic way to counter a jab which is Jones' most effective punch.

I will heavily favor Jones if Hendo gets that fight but I'm pretty sure that Jones will be hit at least once and once is often all it takes with that kind of power. Shogun should have been starched cold multiple times and only avoided it because he is the very definition of a stout hearted, Iron-Chinned Warrior. While I'm not prepared to say that Jones is China Chinned, I'd bet that he doesn't have Mandibular fortitude of that caliber.

I'd love to see Hendo land the worlds biggest right hand (think Bisping) flush on Jones' jaw, only to have Jones laugh it off.

Only because Jones' chin is arguably the last question mark in his game, and if it's as formidable as the rest of his repertoire he would be a scary man indeed.

If Henderson KO'd Jones, yes he would be in the discussion for Greatest Ever, right up there with Fedor and Anderson.

In response to earlier posts, I don't believe a 41 year old Henderson could make 185 and still have acceptable cardio. He looked awful against Jake Shields.

I fancy Jones to beat him because of the size/speed difference, but like the others here I'd love to see how Bones reacts to a monster Hendo right hand, so make the fight!

Id say no. That said Dan's greatest asset has been his consistency. When all is said and done he still has losses to Rampage, Silva, a prime Wand, Lil Nog Arona etc. Whilst some of those are excellent company i don't believe his resume has enough to surpass Anderson or Fedor's streak. But his got a dam good shout.
Personally i hope he tools Jones. But im not so sure. Hendo's Kryptonite has always been quality strikers. Im not sure Jones fits into that bracket but his length size and unorthodox style will cause Hendo many problems. To Hendo's credit though all it takes is one punch. That low kick over hand right combo has worked him his ENTIRE career. Iv only seen he and Couture employ that tactic successfully. Providing Hendo can close the distance im hoping he takes Jones into the trenches and TKO's him.
Hendo though is easily top 5 ATG material. Dudes a stud.
