Default Francesco Pianeta

Is this guy any good? I have never ever seen anything or heard of him. I knew that he began his carreer fighting for Germany and now for Italy again and I know that he was recovering from testicle cancer.
I checked his boxrec record and saw that he holds solid wins over Matt Skelton, Scott Gammer and has a draw with Albert Sosnowski.
Any informations? He is fighting tough journeyman Zack Page tonight.

He was a decent fighter a couple of years ago as we can see in his quick destruction of Mike Marrone.

But he went through chemotherapy for skin cancer and since he's come back, he hasn't looked as good. He was let go by his promoter Sauerland and he now fights under a smaller promotional company.

Page is never a gimme. This is a real test to see if Pianeta is his old self.

Brian Minto just said via twitter he's fighting Pianeta.

Pianeta is scheduled for Oct 26, so that's very likely when Minto-Pianeta will be.

Pianeta, woeful challenger for the world heavyweight championship though he was, ought to beat Minto.

Of course, in the moment I currently am not sure I'm thinking of Minto's h2h efficacy and not Mike Mollo's. I got those guys mixed up before Artur Szpilka fought them a combined thrice in a year.

After his boring points loss to Pianeta, Minto should take on Mollo in an entertaining slug-fest to determine the supreme block-headed thirty-something white American heavyweight trial horse.

Pianeta v Boytsov would make sense at some point. Minto is a just stepping stone. Somehow I have forgotten about his fight with Szpilka. I am sure I have watched but I cannot remember anything about it. It doesn't ring any bells.

I don't think that Boytsov is looking at Pianeta direction right now. Sauerland is looking for some names that could quickly put Boytsov on the spot without having much difficulties.
I have no info on Pianeta, it's unknown when and who will he fight next. To me, it looks like he is stuck looking for some journeyman level opposition he should walk through. I don't think that he aims to get another shot at the title, maybe the EBU belt at some point, but certainly not right now.

It was announced that Pianeta would meet Minto on October 25 in Germany, Stallion. EBU later? Yes, he could fight the winner of Chisora v Gerber.

Pianeta has not beaten anyone of note (shot Botha and McCall don't count). He's currently the weakest name on Wlad's resume since Wlad reclaimed the title. For Wlad's sake, hopefully Pianeta will eventually fight and beat someone decent.

Thanks. Wonder how did I manage not to come across that info. Yes, but I think that he won't attack the EBU belt within his next 2 fights.

I remember when Brian Minto fought Chris Arreola on HBO a couple of years ago, he was considered a decent opponent because Arreola was coming off the stoppage loss to Vitali Klitschko.

Likewise, he's not a bad opponent for Pianeta coming off his brutal loss to Wladimir.
