He is already past his best physically mate I would agree.

However, after any loss a low risk fight is always the best option.

This only costs him 4-5 months anyway of his last 2-3 years.

Well clearly Mayweather is ducking Witter and he beat Hatton comfortably so only makes sense for Hatton to duck Witter as well

whilst we await Wicky to get the bollocks to face Witter, a guy like Torres would not be a bad opponent. Lost to Cotto and hasn't looked great since, but Hatton is capable of handpicking something much weaker.

why are people thinking after a few wins over fighers on the way down witter is now the top guy a lwelt, corley and harris are well past there best ,when witter fought his only top class guy (judah)he ran for 12 rounds, lets see him beat someone like torres.he even struggled to beat lynes, hatton has fought at a lot higher level i even think ajose olusegun would beat witter. so until he beats a young strong hungry world champion people should stop barking from the tree tops about witter.i do not see any of the big american promotions trying to get there hands on witter and they no more about boxing than most of us guys.hatton will fight witter but not until he has a couple of belt if he can manage not to lose before them to pop gun hopkins.

Stop that argument right there, it's daft and you are only making yourself sound stupid.

Both fighters can be assessed in the same way. If someone starts talking about a fighter only beating guys on their way down or guys who are b-class and then losing bad I would not know which fighter you would be refering to, Witter or Hatton.

Fact is both have had thier ass handed to them. Witter subed in for Judah when he was not ready for that level and Hatton got fragged by the most dominant fighter p4p.

Both have beating guys who were good and past prime. Corly, Harris, Castillo and Kosta were not the fighters they were in thier prime but were still good operators. At the stages of thier career they lost to Witter and Hatton they are hard to seperate. So are the so-so guys the two of them have beaten in Maussa, Collazo, Urango ect.

A match up between them would be very close in terms of picking a winner and although they have different styles they to me have similar records of achievement.

dwilson, Hatton's biggest wins in Castillo and Tszyu are streets ahead of wins over anybody Witter has.

I'd also says his wins over Collazo and Maussa surpass Witter's wins over Harris and Corley. After all, Collazo was a champion at a higher weight and Harris had been starched by Maussa....! Even Hatton's win over Phillips is better than most of Junior's.

Name wise Castillo and Kosta are certainly bigger than anybody Witter has fought never mind beaten but many Witter fans will say they were old and past it by the time Hatton fought them. Both sets of fans can disregard each others fighter and opponents in equal severity.

Collazo was never really rated as a proper welter champ and his recent fights have been very poor while Maussa was a joke. Corly was not the same fighter he used to be when he fought Witter and Harris had lost alot of his fear factor that put so many off when he got shocked by Maussa.

All that really matters is that the two guys fight soon so we can see who is the best and not have to be constantly bombarded by idiotic fans cat calling and making childish suggestions about the would be opponent.

Fact is that these two Brits are prob the best two fighters in the division and it would be a crying shame if we did not get to see them get it on. Of course both could lose next time out and it would not matter. Both could have awkward fights in Hopkins and hopefully Torres or Maligfaggi. It would not be the first time a result went the wrong way and scuppered a possible great match up.

Believe me Malignaggi and Torres are going to be better than who he fights. Salita i reckon!

Damm I completley forgot about Salita. It seems so obvious now. Well done who ever said it.

Nice fight. Salita has good backing, he's American and an ok name and most importantly Hatton should be pretty comfortable.
