Well the fact that Wlad doesnt have very good chin, doesnt necessarily mean he has great heart...If he had great heart he would go for the kill every time, like vs Haye outboxing him but not even trying to KO him, or Chambers where Steward yelled at him like he is a little kid just because he was not even going for a KO and he fights safety first and Wlad is afraid of his own chin....I dont think he has more heart than Vitali at all, Vitali likes to fight and is always relaxed in the ring Wlad is much more afraid and tense in the ring!!!

Another reason (Maybe combined with injury) Could be that he thought the fight was closer on the cards than it was. I had 6-3 Vitali first time i watched. Not 7-2 or 8-1 like the judges. I have seen others with that score as well. There is even argument for 5-4 each way according to some. I say 6-3 or 5-4 Vitali. And with how the ninth round went, a Byrd point or even a "normal" TKO victory was possible.

I had it 5-3-1 Vitali. And after the 9th the tide had turned. I don't think Vitali thought he was up as much as the horrible cards had it.

I have torn my rotator cuff. You can survive 10 minutes with it for sure. Passing a kidney stone hurt a lot worse.

BUt if you aren't sure you have the fight in hand, it makes quitting a little bit easier.

I would say somewhere around 35-40.
These east european robots are lucky that the likes of Foreman and prime Holyfield are not around anymore.
They wouldn't even be fit enough to be their sparring partners.

Wlad has heart, he's taken numerous ass-whoopings and dragged his ass off the canvas again and again, has fought with injuries, broken bones, sustained a shattered chin against Sam Peter and still fought on and got the W.

Quitali may look good against Sosonowvorawski, but the two toughest fights in his life have resulted in him quitting shamelessly.

If Wlad had Vitalis chin he would be an extremely formidable fighter.
