And if you are trying to insinuate that all of Jones punches are much more looping than Louis, I'd ask you to look at the right hand he rocked Ruiz with. That was a short, straight right that came faster than any punch Louis ever threw in his life. Also, go check the two punch rapid fire KO of Reggie Johnson.

Louis wasn't even known for his speed for god's sake and now some joker on here is trying to claim pound for pound he's faster than one of the fastest fighters ever?? lol. What's next, Sonny Liston was faster than Meldrick Taylor "conception to detonation"
Well, I have to agree with this, fully.

In terms of handspeed, maybe Louis was faster P4P. In terms of footspeed? No!!!!

The handspeed is still a BIG no. People seem to think "Well, Louis was underrated in his handspeed, so I guess that means we should cut him some slack" without realizing they're comparing him to Roy Jones.

This guy right here.

I don't say Louis was underrated in order to undermine the RJJ handspeed, but simply to get Joe a bit of due. I have no problem whatsoever with people picking Jones here, i would myself probably. Guys like Jones, Davis Jr., Camacho, SRL, Taylor, Ali etc sit on the absolute pinnacle, but IMO Joe sits solidly on the level below them regarding hand speed only.

It's easy for your eyes to mesh fast movements with fast punches.

Jones was an athletic boxer who leap into battle with looping shots whereas Louis was an energy conserving stalker. Both men could pull the trigger at blinding speed, nothing is clear except that Joe threw much shorter blows.
