It's ok 'ears, this is a nice realistic comparison between two guys of the same era against the same opponents Noone's comparing esb liston with zeus, this is a normal acceptable comparison that you can take seriously

In September, a new promoter, Bill Fugazy got involved, and tried to re-schedule
the fight for December, in Canada. Sonny was running out of places to fight, as nearly every Boxing Commission in America had pulled his boxing license. |

They both could punch very hard.
Ingo stopped Machen in 1 in 1958. Liston beat him (W12) in 1960. Ingo stopped Patterson in 3 in 1959. Liston stopped him in 1 in 1962 and in 1 in 1963. Patterson also stopped Ingo... in 5 in 1960 and in 6 in 1961. Ingo also stopped Henry Cooper among others. Liston also stopped Folley and Cleveland Williams x2 among others. They were similar in height, Liston had a longer reach and was about 10-15 Lbs. heavier. Liston has the better resume and knocked out more big name fighters. I'll give Liston the nod here but Ingo could crack. |

it's a bold claim. it looks great and his timing is fantastic. but he didn't get the opportunity to prove it against enough great fighters. with all due respect, patterson's chin is at best questionable and destroying him doesn't propel you to the top of my list

Lets look for the Albert Westphal interview.
Westphal was Ingemar Johansson's sparring partner in March of 1960 He was Ingo's replacement, when Ingo pulled out of his scheduled December 1961 match with Sonny Liston. |
