I'll look into the Kalule-Holmes bout,,,,,,,,,

It was on the undercard of the Steffan Tangstadt-Lucien Rodriguez bout.

Ayub Kalule could have had a Championship bout versus WBA Light-Middleweight
Eddie Gazo in December 1977,,,,,,the only thing Mogen Palle would have had to do was,
pay-off the WBA officials, overpay Eddie Gazo's fight purse, and give Gazo a guarantee
re-match clause if he lost.

The South Korean representatives for Light-Middleweight Jae-Keum Lim did just that.
Unfortunately, Jae-Keum Lim did not win.

Kalule was 100% a big junior middle, either that or he was terrible at even cutting a few lbs.

What's that quote lora? 'cut off a leg' for him to make the weight? Kalule was a natural middle for sure.

As for his power, how are we assessing the flash knockdown he scored over Sumbu late in the fight? Balance? Just one of those things? He still had a bit of snap even past his best.

Kalule was accurate enough to gain some respect IMO.

In other era's, it seems Tyson Fury has gone the Kalule route now.

As I say, if he was constantly struggling to make the weight!

As for Kudo, coming from a wrestling background he most probably had weight cutting down to a tee.

If making weight (154 lbs.) was a strain,,,,,,,,,,,,he should have been affected late in fights,,,,,,,,,,,,weakness.

Just the opposite, Ayub was 'Steady Eddie' down the stretch.

He was a tank physically.Looks like freakin dick tiger in that first photo. The second with Graham, another former junior middle who grew into being a big physically strong middleweight.

Kudo did look like a fighter who would have no issue against middleweights physically himself.

Saad was also strong down the stretch but tight at the weight. Maybe it doesn't always follow the pattern we'd expect??

Ayub Kalule,,,,,,,,,,,,,maybe a bit like Emile Griffith, a 147 lb. boxer who could carry weight well at 155 lbs. and more.

Also, Ayub Kalule was boxing at -60 kg (132 lbs.) in 1974 and 1975.

Scoring of the Fight.

Referee Robert Ferrara and Ring Magazine were right on,,,,,,,,,
11-1-3 for Ayub Kalule.

Have to take your hat off to Masashi Kudo, as he took some wicked shots, and
did not quit.

At least 5 rounds were close, but Kalule landed the cleaner and higher-volume punches
in those rounds.

Not sure what Judge Tim Kelleher was thinking, with 9 Rounds 'Even', with a 5-1-9 Scorecard.

Harold Ledderman, usually does not like to score 'Even' Rounds, so at least '3' of the
close Rounds he scored for Masahi Kudo, on his 11-4-0 Scorecard.

Worse case scenario, the fight could have been scored 9-3-3 for Ayub Kalule.
