Floyd Mayweather Jr. (42-0, 26KOs) is looking to fight five more times before retiring from the sport. Mayweather, 35-years-old, returns on May 5th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. He faces WBA junior middleweight champion Miguel Cotto (37-2, 30KOs). Mayweather wants to have at least two fights per year, which puts him on the path to retirement at age 37. On June 1, Mayweather will report to the Clark County Detention Center in Las Vegas to spend 87 days in jail for a domestic abuse charge. He wants to take another fight in the fall.
"Safe to say, probably -- this one [with Cotto], plus five more. And of course, I'm probably not looking to fight six strong champions," Mayweather told David Mayo of the Grand Rapids Press. "I'm a lot older now, you know what I'm saying?" [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] |

There are just many other fighters who did A LOT MORE RIGHT. So are you saying Floyd should be higher ranked because we feel sorry for him because his era wasn't great? Anyway, there were better challenges out there that he did take on. He isn't as brilliantly talented as other think IMO, got nuttin' on Sumbu Kalambay for one (except for pure handspeed) |

Biased about Jack Sharkey I admit it
I can see why people go over board with Floyd, its the same shit but its not like Floyd is the only guy to do it. I was a big Mayweather fan at one point but he just stopped taking the best on after the Castillo scare, that plus being an total cunt put me off. I think he took to much flak for fighting Baldomir and Hatton though, they are good wins. Its the people he didn't fight at the right time that is so bad for his case. How can somebody get so many people to believe he is the best ever when he went on "vacation" and said "I'll retire from boxing, I won't let boxing retire me" when asked about defending his title like a champion against a prime Cotto? If he was so much better than Cotto then why not prove it and make millions. Bold claims require bold actions. |
