Default how long before you were comfortable?

I'm a noob when it come to boxing, I only started 2 weeks ago, but one major porblem i have is i over think EVERYTHING. I will pause for a good 2-3 seconds before I do anything so i can think about doing it the right way. Now i know with practice this will go away but i was wondering how long it took you guys before you were comfortable with your footwork and the basics.

It will take at least a year of supervised training/sparring before the basics(stance, punch form, footwork) are second nature to you. I know it sounds like a long time but just be patient and enjoy the process of gradually making yourself a better fighter.

Sounds good.. It's funny though, I always though I could fight pretty well, but after my first visit to the gym I got a wake up call and learned anything I thought I knew was wrong.

It probably took me more than 3 months to move and punch comfortably enough, til things clicked in my head.

Happens to just about everbody, so don't sweat the little things. It takes a while for all you will learn to become more instinctual rather than well thought out. Truth is, and you're realizing it now, that you don't really have much time to think in there about every aspect of the game.

Given time, many things will just come natural, and that is when it feels good.

took me about half a year before I closed all the gaps in my guard. That's the biggest problem with beginners you try to block everything on reflex which results in leaving you open.

Whenever I spar a new guy I always throw a straight to the gut and then a jab to the face.

They will always bring their arms down to protect their gut, leaving their face unprotected

it takes 3 years to become a complete fighter assuming your being coached properly and taking amateur fights

first off congrats on starting up. i'v been boxing for 4 months now and there are still plenty of things that still feel off. it's going to be much longer if you fought before because of trying to fix bad habits and such. i did a lot of back yard mma fights (or what passed for it where we are) and was pretty good but got wupped my first day actually boxing and still have bad habits i'm trying to fix.

when you can throw combinations without thinking what to do,,then you will start to learn how to look for openings against your sparring partner ,,,,this will take years ,,always try to sparr with people at your level of boxing ,this way you will become more confident in trying different thinks ,,instead of becoming someones punch bag

It's assuring to know that everyone has gone through this, One problem I keep having is jumping with both feet off the ground when I'm moving to my trainer on the mits, or when I'm coming in shadowboxing/heavybag/double end, as well as not dropping/staying down when I throw my jab, he said i'm being overly aggressive. I'm a total beginner so this is pretty normal, I really like it though, the challenge and physical training of it all is very enjoyable. I have way more respect now for all boxers, easily the toughest sport I've played, but the most fun.
