Ken would get beat up badly at 205 these days, be interesting to see him de-roided at a probably more natural 185 though. Think Frank would do better though

PRIDE 9

Heath Herring v Willie Peters
Heath opens up with a heavy flurries, bewilders Peters with a front kick followed up by punches. Peters rebounds off the ropes, unclear if Peters shoots for a single on hits the mat cause he's shit, but Heath quickly takes his back and sinks his forearm deep into Peters throat. Willie makes some noises that would embarrass a rape victim, heath gets his hooks in and Willie taps soon after.

A good example of the ground game in 2000 and how much it has ''evolved''

Carlão Barreto vs Paul Varelans

Carlão smartly avoided any type of strking......They are in a clinch.
Carlão got the takedown but the cameraman missed it Then he mounted, brutal gnp, Varelans refused to quit.
Brutal !!
Carlão by TKO in the gnp.....quite impressive because Varelans was much bigger.....

I am a bit lazy but that was what happened actually.....nothing more to tell.....I only watched quick fights today. lol

RD 1
barretto looks liight on his feet and circles away from Tre's power right hand. Barretto throws a few leg kicks and range finding front kicks (**** you all the Seagal lovers) Barreto keeps circling to Tre's left...boo-urns. Tre shoots for a TD, has double underhooks on Barretto, with Calos' face to the mat. Tries for a guillotine...no where near sinking it in. Carlos spreads his weight and stands back up. Carlos gets over/under and Tre's back is against the ropes. Extended clinch period of inactivity against the ropes, advantage Barreto. Barreto attempts several trips to no avail, after a few minutes the Ref separates them both. Both take the chance to suck in some oxygen. Carlos, keeping his hands low, scores with a few low kicks. Carlos attempts another low kick, Tre counters with a TDA, Carlos is too strong, pushes Tre against the ropes again. Tre pummels to double underhooks. Carlos takes advantage of the sweat, sneakily reverses the position so he has a single over under, and lands some punishing knees

Barreto pulls guard, it's a mistake as Tre lands on top North/South position with hands clasped low down Baretto's waiste iF HE LIFTS HIM UP OFF ALL FOURS, THE KNEES COULD FINISH THE FIGHT.

Tre takes a breather whilst having double underhooks in a north/south position, probably the most vunerable position to be in under PRIDE rules

**** it the rest of the fight is boring, with Carlos taking down Tre and doing **** all, except a few punches from guard.

1st round was close, but overall it was Barretto's fight

Igor Vovchanchyn v Daijiro Matsui @ PRIDE 9

Ouch

Matsui shoots for a very low single and Igor sprawls and takes DM's back. That missed TDA probably cost DM a few dozen brain cell as the sound of Igors fist connecting, unanswered, to DM's skull sounds like someone bashing a coconut with a lump hammer. DM tries to sweep into guard but Igor is too strong, this is like watching a video of seals getting clubbed to death to be honest

Which each fail attempt to sweep DM only makes things worse for himself as he edges closer and closer towards the corner post leaving himself less and less room to manoeuvre. It's probably for the best that Igor has his back as I think if Matsui could see the look on Igor's face he'd be in serious danger of doing a Sylvia in his shorts and each attempt to sweep is just making Igor look meaner.

Thankfully for Matsui he finally gets some luck. After eating 30 shots from Igor, he now has a 2 inch cut which is bleeding into his eye. After some Doctors attention they restart in the same position on the deck, and Igor picks up where he left off. Matsui sweeps finally, and Igor lands in side control, some people just have no luck. With his right arm wrapped around DM's head like a school bully who's picking on the fat kid, Igor goes to work now on the cut, and the fight is mercifully stopped, with Dajirio looking like a baby that's just been born and is still covered with blood

Guy Mezger v Wanderlei Silva

Mezger towers over Wandy in the stare down whilst Silva hasnt yet developed his infamous rape face he used to intimidate so many guys during his PRIDE run. The Ref looks like Mario Yamasaki's disabled brother aswell...

Anyway the fight kicks off, literally with a left high kick from Guy which Wandy blocks and Guy circles away from Wandys counter punch. Left kick again, this time to the body from Guy, Wandy's counter punches again miss so he fires a hard outside leg kick which Guy almost checks. Guy misses with a few range finder kicks and jabs. Wandy steps in and eats a kick to the body and a left over the top, not really damaging though but do the job of backing Wandy out of range. Wandy tries to punch his way into a Muay Thai clinch, but Guy blocks the punches then shrugs him off and throws a knees to the head for good measure as he's backing away.

Wandy now has a mouse visible under his right eye, again a clinch and knee by Wandy, Guy pushes him off with ease. Wandy switches tactics and throws two hard low kicks but eats a left from Guy when he tries to follow up with punches. Guy is countering well at this point, the right straight isconsistanly finding a home and is stopping Wandy from overwhelming him in his usual fashion

Both now trade kicks, 2 to the body from Guy, one leg kick from Wandy. Out of nowhere Silva hits Guy with a stiff left then gets him in the Muay Thai clinch, again Guy shrugs off the clinch and hits Wandy with a good clean left hook as he exits back out of range. Guy gets the better of a short punching exchange with shots straight down the pipe, always a weakness when Wandy throws his famous wild hooks like a man trying to shoe away a wasp buzzing around his ear.

Again a fail clinch attempt and and a very nice knee and crisp left for Guy. Wandy has no answer to Guys left counters, so initiates an underhook clinch, Guy escapes AGAIN, and Wandy eats a grazing left high kick to his face for his efforts. Wandy smiles menacingly at Mezger now, clearly a little frustrated that Guy is dictating this fight so far.

Wandy steps in with another leg shot, his only real scoring shots of the fight, Mezger again counters with a punch and BOOM Wandy counters that with a hard right to Guys temple, Mezgers knees buckle and his ass hits the mat with Wanderlei following him down swinging like a mad man. Guy brilliantly sweeps and clocks Wandy in the face with a knee on the way back up. Another clinch is initiated as Guy is still wobbly and looking to recover his senses. Wandy fires a knee deep into Guys bread baskest and contects with a hard left right straight combo. Mezger lands a good left right uppercut combo on the inside put is forced into the defensive with Wanderlei swinging like a mad man and Guys back is now up against the ropes

Ducking and landing his own counter, Guy eats another HARD right to the temple and he's forced to clinch. Wandy, now in beserker mode clearly headbutts Guy in the clinch, prompting shouts from Guys corner, but the Ref wasnt in a good position to see it. Guys is ****ed at this point and an epic right hand right on the chin drops him like a sack of shit and the Ref waves off the fight with Mezger face down and out for the count on the mat

Wanderlei smiles, but clearly a case of one punch turning the fight as Guy was in charge up until the right and and later headbutt.

Got to be honest, the right that dropped him was bad, but he seemed to be recovered before the headbutt. Gotta say Wand cheated to end that fight, might have gone a little differently otherwise, I think he was stronger than Wand and could have recovered in the clinch

Igor Vovchanchyn vs Paul Varelans

****ing huge cage !
Big size difference, Varelans looks like a monster in comparison with Igor who looks like a midget here !
Well, Varelans had a very bad idea, coming forward to Igor in the first second like a bull
Igor with his power punches landed some already......a kick to the leg too......
Varelans try to grab Igor but is not easy, Igor with wild but accurate punches starts his destrution.
Three consecutive punches landed by Igor....Varelans apparently stunned.
Later Igor put Varelans close to the cage and landed more punches, it´s looking like a beating already......incredibly Varelans still coming forward trying to show to Igor that he is in the fight yet....
An amazing combination by Igor and Varelans finally is in the ground.....and the ref stopped it....good stoppage IMO.
