That's a good call, although checking boxrec Rafael Concepcion could be regarded as a pretty easy opponent (can't say I've ever seen him fight though).

Mormeck- A world class Cruiserweight but not an elite fighter, still a solid opponent though

Maccarinelli- No where near world class had a bunch of ****** defenses and possibly has one of the worst chins in boxing and has been beaten by anyone near world class

Barrett- Old man who has never beaten anyone of real note and was beat in 3 of his last 6 before Haye not exactly good form. Average Euro level fighter at best

Valuev- A big lumbering oath with little or no boxing ability. Only became "world" champion because of his size and anyone with Haye's speed was always going to beat him

Ruiz- Years past his best and was there merely for one last payday, also had lost 3 of his last 6 before Haye

Harrison- DONKEY, beat no one of note in professional career and lost to Martin Rogan for flip sake

Klitschko- Elite fighter only one on the list though and Haye got dominated

Nah, Concepcion's not that good.

Raul Martinez was unbeaten, but looked a complete rookie against Donaire. Lots of heart, but just couldn't cope skillwise (I guess not many can). He lost his last fight btw.

Manuel Vargas is another that's not all that great.

Its more the last five fights that really light up the streak for Donaire. If he adds three more quality scalps in a row, then that 8 will be a really good un.

I see that Mathebula is up next - that's another goodish scalp.

Sergio Martinez - Barker and Macklin could be considered sub-world level

Chad Dawson - That's a great run of fights. However there are 3 rematches in there. I didn't clearly distinguish between 8 consecutive fights and 8 consecutive opponents, but I think that to fight 7 or 8 different guys in a row in 8 fights and have them all be world class is particularly impressive, because it speaks of a desire to step in the ring with anyone and the fighter has to deal with more diverse styles.

Winky Wright, Shane Mosley - yep, both arguably better than Froch's 8. I guess most of the examples are from modern fighters towards the end of their careers, because these guys only fight once or twice a year and therefore haven't got time to spare for fighting weaker opponents.

If you take an OBJECTIVE view then it certainly is, some of Pacquiao's fighters were p4p at the time, whereas only Ward I would say was p4p during his time.

Pacs last 8 is devalued slightly by the fucking about with weight shenanigans and a bit of cherrypicking.

Diaz - average world champion if there is such a thing
Oscar - Completely dead at the weight, past it
Hatton - Decent on paper but completely overmatched
Cotto - Good win but with a weight stipulation
Clottey - Meh....coming off the back of a Cotto loss
Margarito - Shop worn and weight restricted
Mosley - Utterly shot to pieces....hadn't won a fight in 30 months

But you do agree it was a better 8 than Froch's?

As for the performances the argument was about the quality of opponents not the result/performance, so things like performances or the fact that Hatton was over matched is irrelevant.

I think the summary of opponents is unfair, they were better than you have suggested. Sometimes Pacquiao's achievements is his downfall.

That's a great call! Especially considering that he was nearing the end of his career and his own skills were diminishing a little in the last fight or two.
