I like the way that Vitali defends his body when his opponents go downstairs. He's got the height to let his hands go down and he positions his arms very well to cover his ribs and even his stomach.

Lionel Rose has a very unique way of holding his hands. As you can see by the picture he holds his right in front of the left side of his face and (you dont see this in the pic) but he wraps his left round his body to protet from body shots.

The right hand held infront of his face deals well with straight shots as they are generally aimed for the front of your face rather than the wider hooks that are aimed at the sides of your head. Many would say this style is open for the hooks but this is the interesting bit. Rose really controlls the range well behind his own jab and keeps his opponent almost exclusivly at long range, with this positioning his opponent cannot throw a hook as the range for a hook is less than a jab, this eliminates the threat of the hook for Rose in most of his fights.

However, in the olivares fight, Ruben really capitalises on this and is able to controll the distance better than Rose and steps inside to take advnatge of the opening for the left hook and it proves to be an important punch in beating Rose.
