Pacquiao first appeared on the map against Ledwaba. Pacquiao was a stand-in on two weeks notice, and was a 20-1 underdog or something like that. At the time Lennox Lewis, Floyd Mayweather Jr., Roy Jones Jr., and the Klitschko brothers were the top guys and HBO wanted to bring in new talent, new stars.
Ledwaba was supposed to showcase his talent and skill, but things didn't quite go to plan. Manny arrived on the scene for the first time, and threw bombs left right & center. No jabs or fancy footwork, just brutal hooks and uppercuts the whole way through. He battered Ledwaba into submission easily. And from then on the Pacman was seen as the future of boxing. Went on to defy the odds a ridiculous amount of times. Destroyed De La Hoya which many saw as a mismatch in Oscar's favor. Pacquiao came out, giving De La Hoya lateral movement, footwork, etc. He pummeled him. Got the better of Miguel Cotto in a very entertaining bout which many thought Manny couldn't win. Flattened Ricky Hatton at his best weight in two rounds. Had three great fights with Marquez, a trilogy with Morales featuring an amazing bout in Morales I, destroyed Margarito, out-sped and out-fought Diaz, and battered Clottey. All this from a Filipino who was used to selling cigarettes on the streets, who was supposed to lose. Who wasn't supposed to be able to go from featherweight to middleweight taking championship belts and kicking ass. Pacquiao easily. |

Floyd has more skills but Pacquiao has far exceeded expectations. Four lineal titles.
The first decent reply. Quote:
