Default Joe Calzaghe speaks about his top 5 fights!

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

If you missed it on ESPN, Joe talks about his top 5 fights and his future plans. If you haven't seen much of Joe (pre Lacy) - worth a look for some of the highlights!

He probably picked them on excitement value. The Sheika fight was a toe to toe tear up for the 5 rounds it lasted.

If I were picking his top 5 exciting fights, it would be:
  1. Byron Mitchell
  2. Chris Eubank
  3. Charles Brewer
  4. Omar Sheika
  5. Jeff Lacy
But if you were ranking the best performances:
  1. Jeff Lacy
  2. Chris Eubank
  3. Robin Reid (considering the fractured hand)
  4. Richie Woodhall
  5. Byron Mitchell

Isn't he? He acts as if he's been fighting great boxers. Still the latest three are called Manfredo, Ashira and Bika.

i though the undefeated ibf titlist lacy was there....

anyways ashira was a good fighter

manfredo was just an american fighter that people knew about becuase of the contender. i agree that manfredo was a useless fight for a legacy thing but for money it was perfik

bika was a solid hard tough man bute didnt look amazing against him either.

Sorry, my mistake. I meant "the latest three great ones"

Looking back at this now, Calzaghe's Top 3 fights would took place after this thread was created.

Calzaghe defeated Mikkel Kessler, Bernard Hopkins, and Roy Jones Jr. Say what you want about Calzaghe, but you cannot deny the fact that he went out beating THE BEST!

he beat 43 year old hopkins by split dec and with jones he defeated the 1990's fighter of the decade, only he beat him in dec of 2008.

the hopkins win was ugly but good. jones and kessler were hardly the best when joe fought them.

By the way, I am a Bernard Hopkins fan, and I scored the fight 115-112, in favor of Hopkins.

However, unlike the PacTards, us true Hopkins accept the fact that he lost that fight, and refuse to make excuses for it.

All true boxing fans know that Bernard Hopkins is the greatest boxer this side of 1990. Oh, and by the way, Hopkins and Calzaghe never lost in their prime... Can't say the same about Pacquiao (who lost in his prime to Eric Morales)!
