You still have to know how to do it, and you have to keep an active (and high) lead hand, but you won't be able to use it as a scoring blow very often. More of a distraction to position the guy for your other punches. Very few good southpaws rely on their jab. Calzaghe comes to mind but there aren't many others. Pacquiao for example doesn't really even have much of a jab.

Most coaches will say that stuff, but most coaches DKSAB, to be honest.

Took me a while to get that acronym, haha.

I agree, jab less important for lefties. Work on the left hand more.

As a lanky orthodox outfighter though my jab is by far my most important punch - I do most of my scoring with it so I hate southpaws

I remember sparring lots of lefties...back when I was on a steady diet of right hooks and left crosses.

Pisses me off just thinking about it. And I don't remember a lot of jabs coming my way.

The counter punchers actually made me hesitant to throw my own jabs coz I knew a freakin hook was coming right afterwards. Sacks of shits still landed them even when I knew they were coming...mother****in southpaws!

^Yeah, I know I'm not the best, but one advantage I'll automatically have from the start is being a southpaw.

Anyways, don't mean to hog this forum and post vids every day, but I'm trying to improve daily, and this critiquing really helps me learn what I can do better on a daily basis. Besides crossing my legs when stepping to the left (didn't realize I did it until after I watched it), what else can I improve on? I think I kept my rear hand in place when I jabbed, so that's good, but still want to perfect my jab.

EDIT: Also, how good/bad is my hook? Like you said, one thing I do know is that southpaws' hooks do good against orthodox fighters, so I'm looking to improve that.

Stop doing standalone lead hooks. Should combo, double up on them. follow up from a left cross, etc
