Years before he turned pro - but already a legally competent adult - he led some (figurative and literal) gangbangers who forced young local girls into lives of prostitution, drugs, and violent physical abuse.

In fact as far back as 1998 it was documented by the Quebecois media that he had forced young girls to box each other naked and if they failed to knock each other out cold he'd intervene and "deliver the KO blow himself".
Confessed, tried, convicted.

Like George, he has since "paid his debt to society" and claims to be rehabilitated.. So, water under the bridge...right?

You know, Ibes, back in my day, the Robinson/LaMotta era, you could root for anyone you wanted to and be comfortable knowing that they were swell, stand-up fellas. Not rapists and woman-beaters, etc.

I could only see oneoutcome in a fight between these two and that's Dirrell by stoppage or clear UD.....So then I ask wth is his chicken shit little ass doing pulling out of an elimination fight that would essentially secure him a rematch against the only guy to (controversially) beat him.

The only two things that could possibly make sense her would be if he got paid step asside money and is promised another big opportunity fight. Or perhaps he really did experience a serious head injury and his team is affraid to put him in with such a big puncher. If this last senario is true though then his team is delusional and should be pulling Dirrell out of the sport all together. Anyone that has had a brain injury so bad that he is having to avoid fighters should be avoiding all fighters. Plain and simple.
or may be he is just scared of froch as the ibf road leads to him at this moment intime

George got this!!! He's got a good chin and he's a tough mutherfucker....Adonis cannot handle that power and he's not good enough defensively to not get touched.

Blast! Was hoping Dirrell would get ahold of him. . .

George is WAY too average to beat Stevenson. . . ALl espect to George, but he is simply not very good. . . He seems tough, so I think he'll probably survive 12 fairly one-sided rounds. . . He might land a haymaker or two, and haev few, brief moments of good work. .

But Stevenson is just above him in about every regard.

dirrell should just reitre and look for work on broadway imo the guy is becoming more irrelevent by the day.
he excepted the fight but ellebre knew fuck all about it ?
dirrell publicly did not want to lose face and just pussyed out the back door.
got to be in the top 5 most irrelevant and inactive boxer in last few years imo

There is a bit of a difference between your typical drunken spousal row of yesteryear culminating in a sass-quashing backhand across the kisser (although that is itself unconscionable) and a fucking natural born power puncher - currently considered one of the hardest hitters in all of pro boxing at 168lbs, fourteen years later - loading up in cold blood and putting a finisher on the chin of a young girl probably weighing about half what he did with the express goal of rendering them unconscious for sheer amusement.

But yeah, either way...going 12 isn't likely.

Neither has ever done it!! (both have been ten, max)
10-12 with a chance of reduced rounds due to good behavior?

Was the same not true on paper of Stevenson vs. Boone, though?

The thing is, strange as it may seem, George could actually match up against Stevenson h2h (while still being an underdog) more favorably than Dirrell would have despite obviously being vastly inferior to Dirrell in general terms.

Due to the unique set of characteristics that Stevenson possesses - explosive power that you don't want to spend 12 rounds hanging around with, very fast hands and feet, and a beyond suspect chin - it's perhaps more likely for a raw aggressive slugger with a solid chin to beat him with a lucky haymaker than a cutie boxer having to survive by avoiding those dangerous fists and attempting to pot shot from safety for a full thirty-six minutes. Remember, Dirrell is slick but not untouchable and he can be hurt by a lesser shot than Stevenson is capable of delivering (and Stevenson is quick and nimble enough to keep up with Dirrell even in runner mode, and close the gap with a leaping/looping punch he won't see coming...)

You don't want to go the distance with Stevenson, and trying is inviting trouble. You want to check his chin before he checks yours. Dirrell probably does have enough thunder in his gloves to get the job done - just not the mentality. Especially knowing Stevenson's reputation and having seen his highlight reel KO's if he'd done any scouting, he'd be scared shitless of getting caught with something so he'd be on the backfoot as he was against much lesser puncher Curtis Stevens - and he'd be surprised how quickly Stevenson caught up to him and started raining bombs down, being nowhere near as slow as the plodding Stevens. When really, if Dirrell simply took it straight to him and adopted a "strike first" mentality he'd probably win by KO. You'd never convince him to do it, though. George on the other hand knows no other way to fight - as you say, he's very limited and that could actually work to his benefit here. He'd feel that he may as well walk through a few of Stevenson's shots and try to bang him out, because wtf else is he trained to do?

Not so sure Dirrell wouldn't do it pre-coldcock from AA. Or at least the way he fought AA in the first half of the fight. Probably not after that debacle though, and definitely not before. So really we're talking 24 minutes. Dirrell of that 24 minutes or so would KO Stevenson easy.

Can't wait to peep the under.

If it pays out as generously as 1/2 or better I might drop real cash.

Actually might not be that long a wait, despite this only just having been announced (and not yet technically official?) and over a month away.

Cloud vs. Pascal odds are already listed... And guess what? They have it a mismatch.

Dirrell ran away from GGG and Froch in the ring before the AA fight. I usually root for fighters from Quebec, but it is hard to root for Stevenson.

It will be a great night of boxing for sure.

...and Curtis Stevens.

Hell he even ran early against Hanshaw before realizing he could take Tony's best stuff.

No way he comes forward against A.S., IMO.
