Default Strategy against a taller pressure fighter

Hi guys

I'm tall for my weight division and 95% of my opponents are smaller so I usually jab the fuck out of them and add in right hands and rarely have problems. The odd time I meet someone taller I usually outbox them, even from the outside, jumping in with quick jabs.

But a couple of times I have come up against a taller, pressure fighter. So they have this reach advantage but won't box me and just rush me. I'm used to being rushed by smaller guys but I disrupt their charge easily with a jab to the face, but this doesn't work with taller guys.

I'm standing there and the taller guy will rush in, I might throw a jab but their right hand will usually land first because of reach. So I can't box and move or get anything together, I have no experience getting low and working the body, will I have to start doing this? Short left hooks?

Footwork and angles.

The key is turning them. Hit them, pivot, hit them again then get out/reset or step off and continue to work.

Also get good on this great move: (opponent moves forward) shuffle back, right hand, pivot, check hook. Either to the head or the body. This done a couple of times will discourage that big rush towards you. The reach is not an issue if they are coming to you in my opinion.

That is a pretty easy guy to fight. Give him the jab, your jab, to counter over. Now, you know he is going to throw a right hand over your jab, right? So slip it and counter with your right. Get under it and hook his body, pivot out and throw a right. If he is intent on coming to you, give him an obvious counter, then counter what you have just made him do.
Even if he is coming strong behind his jab...Catch it in your glove, let it back you up, maybe take it off the top of your head (and lean in so he thinks he's getting some)...Now, he'll either come with a right behind it, then refer to the above...Or he'll keep stepping hard with the jab. You can parry that jab, right off your chin as you bring your left straight up and let him run onto it, or hook off the same parry. Either way he is walking straight onto a punishing blow.
If he is coming hard at you, you can use that against him to land some very hard counters.
