Despite the 'shocking loss' to Soo-Hawn Hong,,,,,
Hector Carrasquilla was back in the Gimnasio Nuevo Arena 4-months later, {still under age 18}. In March, at (127 lbs.) - Hector stopped (TKO 5) Costa Rican Featherweight, 'Hurricane' Raul Silva 29-5-0 (10 KO's). It was another 'awesome' display of power, as Carrasquilla floored Silva 'once' in the 1st-Round, 'twice' in the 2nd-Round, once in the 4th-Round, and 'twice' in the 5th-round, as Referee Vivian Stewart stopped the contest at 2:01 of the Round. Hector Carrasquilla, moves to 12-1-0 (12 KO's), and will now campaign as a 126 lb. Featherweight. Carrasquilla's agent, Rodolfo Siaro states, that the weight draining to get to 122 lbs. was too much for his growing fighter. He only had 'minimal endurance' for his bout with Soo-Hwan Hong 4-months earlier. That is why he went for the 'fast knockout', as he was ordered to do so by his cornermen. At 126 lbs. he is more comfortable, but soon will even move up to 130 lbs. (Super-Featherweight). Last edited by Senor Pepe'; 07-23-2012 at 07:47 AM. |

Going 4-1-0 (3 KO's) with '1' No Contest. April 7, 1979 - Hector challenges WBA Featherweight Champion, and Panamanian countryman Eusebio Pedroza. On April 7, 1979, Hector Carrasquilla 15-2-0 (14 KO's) was still not age 19, as he was 4-weeks shy of that age. Last edited by Senor Pepe'; 07-23-2012 at 10:33 AM. |

November 18, 1978
WBA Featherweight Elimination bout, between 'two' Panamanian Bombers. Hector Carrasquilla - 14-2-0 (13 KO's)...#2 WBA Featherweight vs. Julio 'Superman' Pinilla - 15-3-0 (13 KO's)...#4 WBA Featherweight Julio Pinilla had won '14' straight bouts with (12 KO's), including a 'shocking' 1st-Round Knockout over #7 WBA Featherweight - Rodolfo Francis in April 1978. 'Bombs Away', as Hector floors Julio Pinilla in the 1st Round, and then puts 'Superman' away by 'knockout' in the next round by (KO 2). |

So he obviously took it easy on these harmless weaklings. It's a well-known fact. Sanchez puts Pedroza in a coma by mercilessly beating him over 15 rounds, then revives him, gives him a rematch and Zamoras him in 2 round, revives him once again, gives him one last rematch and Fords his balls in 1 round.

Carrasquilla was a poor man's Kalule- in the Rodrigo Valdez mold- technically. But with actual punching power.
Could have had a fine career had he not been so rushed though. The lad had offensive skills far beyond his years. |

Hector Carrasquilla was 'fast and powerful'.
Nobody that young had that kind of 'one-punch' power. But the ability to take it, he was average at best. The main problem, he always started off in 4th Gear. |
