All other things being equal, you'd have to imagine an optimist has an advantage at pretty much everything.

Misguided confidence is certainly not a desirable attribute.

The greatest enemy of any athlete in any sport you want to name is
SELF DOUBT.
99% of the time if you dont think you can win....... you wont.
A boxing ring is a very dangerous place to have self doubt.

I agree. But misguided confidence can have you doing things you shouldn't be and lead to you getting KOed.

Pessimist - I know I'm going to lose.
Self doubt - I think I can win, but I'm probably going to lose.
Optimist - I believe I have the ability to win.
Misguided confidence - Nothing can stop me, I can annihilate everyone, I am the Hulk.

This radio show I was listening to said that ppl with self doubt tend to analyze more and take less risk.

The radio show I listened to today advertised for hardcore meth heads in Melbourne to undertake driving tests whilst under the infuence and to everybodies amazement, failed miserably on all counts leading to the conclusion that meth heads behind the wheel are more likely to undertake risks while in charge of a vehicle and cause accidents.

The radio show I listened to today played some nice music, said the world was going to end (again), and that the sun will be shining until 2pm, moving to light showers.
