He carried that left leg around with authority. I remember watching him hit people in the liver and you would just see them wilt. He'd follow up with surprising power in his hands, the LHK would come out of nowhere.. Just such a punishing and destructive combination of skills. In his prime he could do more damage with his weapons than anyone I can think of, even now. After Gonzaga its like he packed his left leg away, always had a tentative look in his eyes where before you just saw alpha killer. Don't care what anybody says, the man changed. |

A win over a prime Josh Barnett is a serious scalp for any heavyweight. Barnett was an extremely tough and good fighter in his day. That opponent alone sets Crocop way above actual can-crushers like Lombard. |

I remember the Sanchez fight and Sanchez was actually running away from him and almost collapsed out of fear. |

i always had the impression he had no desire to really be fighting in the ufc, and only carried on because he wanted to honour his contract. his head never seemed into it.

Im a big crocop fan. ive been watching him for years! even before pride days.
i remember he destroyd everyone in the 2006 open weight grand prix. he looked scary. then he goes into the ufc and fights eddie sanchez. i remember this fight like it was yesterday. he didnt look the same. looking all smiley, no scary stare down. infact it looked like the pressure was getting to him. rampage once said that the ufc jitters are REAL! they obviously affected him. he also stopped being a complete fighter. relying heavily on his left head kick rather than use boxing to set it up. i remember the sanchez fight wasnt a great performance and he was dominated by gonzaga before the big KO. just wasnt the same guy. he's always smiling and looking almost submissive during the prefight staredown. and touching gloves during the fight. it shows how big a part the mental game is in everything we do! |

point being, people say he wasnt the same after the gonzage KO. i say he wasnt the same since he stepped into the ufc. not because of the competition, but the pressure of performing, not being right mentally. its sad really

he is my favourite mma fighter. he didn't seem to want to throw leg kick all that often in his ufc days, never could understand that.
maybe the opportunities didn't present themselves? making excuses maybe? did he end any of his ufc fights with a head kick? |
