Invest in a good seat and a pair of cycling shorts with the padding in the ass and crotch area. Cycling shorts come in 2 styles, the tight ass stuff that I won't wear and the type that fit similar to a fairly loose fitting bathing suit with the same padding underneath. They really help when on the bike for a few hours at a time.

I ride a road bike with the buckhorn style bars and I can put in over 40 miles with no real discomfort.

Don't understand how anyone can get sore balls from cycling, but are fine running.

Yea, they hurt my ass too...one time I couldn't sit properly for days. Guys at the office wouldn't accept cycling as a valid excuse, somehow they had others in mind.

Well most people complaint about this problem they face so far but it is difficult to understand how running can be cause problem despite the fact that it is good for health . Moreover, cycling also very useful from fitness and health view point . So some people get running and some cycling which suits them better .

An example would be running is high impact which can be bad for joints.

Spoken like a guy that doesn't run regularly or at any decent distance. Like mentioned in the previous post, running can cause joint injuries because of the impact created when all your body weight lands on the heels in distance running. A person weighing 150 lbs. will have a significantly higher impact to the heel than their body weight. It is lessened somewhat if you run on ground and not pavement, but you have to be very aware of uneven terrain or you can easily tear up an ankle.

As a person that once ran 25-40 miles per week, I can attest to the knee problems associated with running. After 3 knee surgeries, I can no longer run but find cycling to be a great source of aerobic exercise and not at all hard on the knees.
