I just wanna say I didn't say anything about a fight between them. I was only asking who you rate higher in an all time heavyweight list sense.

Today's rule set and environment? It's Wlad.

Jeffries is one of those guys who was built to excel in his era, and I don't say that as an insult. The differences between the two fighting environments make Jim a hell of a lot harder to beat in his day than today. If we took modern guys and threw them back against Jim with smaller gloves, 45 round limits, and amount of wrestling on the inside, most of them wouldn't be able to make the grade from the conditioning factor alone.

In a 12 round, more sanitized boxing match where much of the evironmental stresses have been eliminated, Jeffries loses his edge because he thrived under those conditions rather than pure skill. Eliminate them, and you take out a big chunk of what made him so damn hard to beat.

I hear you Rock! That's why I think it's only fair to rate guys on what they did in their own era. Things have changed too much not to! I think Wlad passed JJJ up by one place last year. He hasn't gone up any for me this year but he's only had a stay busy fight and a mandatory nobody really wanted. But he's stoll doing what he's got to do and staying on top.

There have been too many fellows named ''James" to earn a major heavyweight title. I also feel like Lennox, Vitali and Volo have helped end the James tyranny that prevailed over the course of the early heavyweight days and reared its ugly head once again to terrorize the Tyson era.

Speaking of, there have been too many fellows named Mike also. Tyson won a title off another Mike. Coincidence? I think not. It's disproportionate to the point where I have to suspect a conspiracy. There's only one Lennox but there's what four or five Jameses? And six or seven Mikes? But only one Ingemar? Who's pulling these strings, man? The man! That's who!

I rate fighters strictly on facial hair so neither ranks very high in my opinion.

And BE that's just crazy talk. Absolutely crazy! There is no war in Ba Sing Sei! We have and always will be at war with Eastasia!

Wlad is comfortably ahead now. He's just so dominant. His nearest contender is a man who won the belt of a guy wlad had already beat.

Wlad's in my top ten now james is in the tier below I think.

I still have Jeffries higher, but the gap is closing.

Wlad has turned into the dominat heavyweight of his era, and in many ways a surprising one.

Jeffries has a shade for facing the best available (besides JJ) and remain undefeated while active. WK might reverse that (even with the awful losses in his record) if he beats some of the trickier challengers coming up, though. There's only so much credit you can get for beating 10-60 lbs. lighter fighters, most of them way past 30, no matter how highly regarded they might be (even with his considerable lack of experience).

Yeah! The legions of Ingemars and Lennoxes we meet by the thousands on every corner are left to rot in the lines, ultimately being forced to become porn dubbers, gideons and black country singers.

You're deliberately sidelining Jeffries chest hair! He's a mandatory contender! You have an agenda!

War is Peace! James is good! Hair chest is bad!

I find myself drawing comparisons between contemporary fighters and those of this period.

I see some similarities between Wladamir’s record and Jeffries record. They both evolved from early scepticism to aura of invincibility. Wlad gives you a powerful contemporary lens for understanding a fighter like Jeffries.
