I dont think his career would have been any better

He had Tyson, Holyfield, Lewis, Bowe to contend with
and then the second tier guys like Mcall, Bruno, Mercer, Foreman, Morrison, Ruddock etc

Plus, i dont he was that good anyway.

The man's heart can't be questioned. Anyone seeing him come back from that horrible cut to stop Bey or fight Jeff Sims with that broken collarbone for ten rounds and win has a huge ticker.

He just came along at the wrong time, and also liked nose candy. A lot.

Tyrell Biggs,

Good fighter, who was rushed into a bout with 'Iron' Mike Tyson.

Was only 26 1/2 when fought for the Heavyweight Championship
on October 16, 1987.

And, only had '15-bouts', 15-0-0 (10 KO's).

Another '6' bouts and 18 months, wouldn't have hurt, only helped.

They should have picked his opponents, by using a little 'wit'.

But, the 'nose candy' problem was getting out-of-control.

One of the most boring fighters I ever saw. Worked better than No-Doz to put me to sleep.

Did have a pretty exciting fight against Quick Tillis, however. That was a decent action fight.

I remember reading an interview with Lou Duva who said they rushed into the Tyson bout to cash in as Tyrell was an accident waiting to happen.

Of course the nose candy played a big part.

But the dude was 6'5 and had reasonable reach, usually good tools that should get you there.

Tyrell Biggs had good skills. 6'5" with an 80" reach and 225-230 Lbs.

He won an amateur World Title at SHW in 1982. He won a Gold Medal in the '84 Olympics at SHW. He beat Lennox Lewis, Francisco Damiani, and others as an amateur.

He was 15-0 (10) going into the fight with Tyson. He had beaten Tillis W8, Snipes W10, and Bey KO6 among others. He was not ready for Tyson plain and simple... and he never got back on track again. He was stopped in 7 by Tyson.

After the Tyson fight he was stopped in 5 by Damiani who he had defeated several times as an amateur. In his next fight he was stopped in 7 by Gary Mason.

He did beat Ocasio W10 and R. Marin W10 before taking on an undefeated Bowe. He gave Bowe a few fits before being stopped in 8. In his next fight he was totally dominated and stopped in 3 by Lewis.

He went on to lose to Hunter, Tubbs, Mathis, Anis (KO3), and Donald (KO2) before retiring at 30-10 (20).

He probably could have done a little better, but I doubt he could have done much better.

Who was better? Briggs after 15 fights, Witherspoon after 15 fights, or "The Truth" Williams after 16 fights?

If Tyrell could've developed beter punching power, he had a shot of doing more things.Plus, the cocaine didn't help.

My answer is yes. He could have been "better". How much better is impossible to tell. The potential was there. But drugs, inactivity and constantly changing management teams can ruin any career.

He was thrown to the wolves as his management thought he was damaged goods due to a heavy coke habit and erratic behaviour. There is the famous story of Lou Duva throwing a consolation party for Biggs after the Tyson fight and then making him pay for it. He was a classy fighter, as can be seen in the first round against Tyson, but that fight along with his life style ruined him. Another "new Ali" like Page who never fulfilled their promise.

Tyson was 5 years younger and turned pro after Biggs. I think his team saw that he wasn't progressing and better to go for the money before he got exposed.

I have yet to be convinced this substance is anything but a performance enhancer.
