MARQUEZ the reason being i think marquez could adapt to anything morales had to offer, i would see the first 8 rounds being a good close war then marquez would take over late on and win a decision

Tough to call.

I'd say the only reservation I have about picking Marquez is his tendency to be too patient, looking for counters. Morales may get more work done. That may work in Marquez' favor, too.

Yeah the lower weights I would pick Marquez. The fight certainly gets more interesting at lightweight and above.

At featherweight, I could probably count on one hand the number of people i'd confidently pick to beat marquez.

He operates at such a high skill level and at this weight he had the hand and foot speed to do his talents justice.

Is there a better combination puncher in featherweight history? I'm not sure. I don't even know if there's a better counter puncher neither.

I've watched a lot of jmm at featherweight and I think he's quite underrated there. I also consider his unbeaten at that weight with a resume that's strong within his era.

Morales by UD, he takes the better shot, hits a little harder, has the reach & the footwork + an excellent jab... JMM is best when boxing from range, he can brawl too but much prefers his technical boxing... he will find Morales extremely difficult to outbox from distance & I`d always fancy the grit, toughness, drive & workrate Of El Terrible in a firefight.

No matter how Marquez approaches the fight, Morales can match him... Morales is better at going up & down the gears to suit the pace of the fight, he can also set his own pace extremely well... there`s nothing JMM can do to have a big advantage in this fight... he`d give Morales a great fight, it wouldn`t be a domination, never in a million years, but my money would be on a Morales UD prime for prime.

I think Marquez is a tad overrated as a boxer on here... Morales has always been underrated as a technicial boxer, JMM wouldn`t outbox Morales at 126 lbs, especially not the best versions of El Terrible (vs Barrera 2 & Ayala)

Marquez - better defence, quicker hands, better technician, better use of angles and a smarter boxer. Those would be the difference, I think he's a better puncher too

If Morales fought his most disciplined fight, he'd likely take it. I'd bet on him outjabbing JMM and generally controlling the fight on the outside. Chances are he'd trade rather frequently though, and he isn't getting the better of Marquez when they exchange. IDK, tough fight to call. Morales is a very good man for the job, but sticking to the plan all night long was never really his thing.

Morales relies on his right hand, his physicality, and good chin. He is open and comes forward. Marquez has the edge here style-wise. Morales will win the rounds he presses hard on workrate and clean punching, but Marquez is the smarter, more accurate and focussed operator here and will win the remainder.

Close but clear 7-5 decision here with little controversy.

I think Marquez hits considerably harder above feather. I think his more patient and less aggressive style back in the day would see him outworked by El Terrible in a great fight.

Nowadays Marquez would beat the living shit out of him.

I like Morales in this one. Barrera was a damned good boxer himself (Even a better jab than Marquez) at 126 after the Hamed fight, and in their rematch Morales handily outboxed him IMO even though he lost the decision.

I like Morales in the early going, Marquez coming on in the middle, and Morales pulling ahead late to earn a decision. Great fight, but Marquez can be hit and I think Morales would do it enough to earn his respect.
