Thatīs an interesting question, isnīt it ??
![]() Max beat a young Joe Louis ! IMO the best win at HW, ever.......no comparison with Foreman beating Frazier.....since Frazier is not as great as Joe and Foreman had some stylistic advantages.......(okay, Foreman beat Frazier twice and this makes it close, perhaps )Schmeling also has some very good wins on his record, IMO all of them comparable with Foremanīs wins against Norton, or Lyle..... Is fair to say that in terms of resume Max has the advantage ? H2H, I think Foreman is better, mainly because of his power and size...Schmeling was more skilled though. I rate Foreman high also because of his comeback, but I have to say he really didnīt beat no one of notice there (Moore was a good win, obviously)...but then again, he was an old guy at the time so all things considered, it was impressive. How do you see this comparison guys ?? Tell me your opinion ?? |

I don't see Max's resume being any better than George's.
He came through bigtime with that win over Louis, but that's it. Foreman smashes him h2h. I like Schmeling though. |

Foreman is easily higher rated.
H2H it's not even competitive. Foreman would destroy Schmeling. Foreman also fought in probably most competitive period in heavyweight history. And made impressive comeback after age of 40. |

Foreman rates higher both p4p and head to head. Schmeling's win over Louis was a huge feather in his cap. But Foreman just has a lot more to go on.

I would say that it could be argued either way going into the Moorer fight.
The Moorer win seals it in favour of Foreman for me. Head to head Foreman is the greater force, but Schmeling would be an awfull stylistic match for him. Last edited by janitor; 08-17-2012 at 04:09 PM. |

I voted Foreman, I rate Foreman higher.......but I thought at least one or two guys here would make a case for Max....because IMO his resume is really comparable, to say the least.....
100% Foreman in the poll though, 80% or something like that was expected...100% is a bit surprising to me ! |

Foreman woulkd anhillate Schmeling, but he wouldn't have hit Max any harder than Max Baer did.

Don't worry Frank I got him, we all know right now is the greatest era of heavyweight boxing not the late 60's and 70's with schmobirds like Ali, Frazier, and Norton and a comeback past the age of 40 to win the title at 45 is not impressive at all... and that it pales in comparison to a fighter who you would consider to be truly great, such as Butterbean.....
