Who can be credited with "Boxing is a combination of art and war"?

I'm writing a 20(ish) page paper on physical motion in school, which will end up detailing every bone, muscle, ligament, and every movement involved in a movement of our choice.

It had to be a physical movement that involves upper body, trunk, and lower extremity movements to achieve. I picked the right cross.

Anyway, in my introduction, I am outlining why I picked the subject, and wanted to use that quote, which I heard Larry Merchant say, but I can't remember if he was quoting someone or if it was he who came up with it...

If I remember correctly, he credits some famous author or someone with the quote, but can't remember who and can't remember the fight in which he said it.

Does someone out there have a better memory than me that would like to help?

Sounds like something one of the great trainers would say!..I dont think Merchant is clever enough for that to be his own...but he's always quoting something from somebody...Wish I could help you out Dave, but im clueless!

Fuck I know exactly the quote you're talking about and I think it was in the first Morales/Barrera fight. And yes, it was someone else he was quoting.

Can't remember who though but it went something like "The great writer/journalist {insert name} was once quoted saying that boxing is a combination of art and war ..something something something"

Damn, now it's bugging me.

I may have to go watch Morales-Barrera I now. That does ring a bell.
