True, he did seem to be losing strength in that fight, but I will give him benefit of a doubt as he spent that entire fight throwing power shot after power shot and loading up on every punch he threw trying to dispatch Hope, who was being quite stubborn. The way he was fighting takes a lot out of you. He wasn't fighting in a style typical for him and never caught his rhythm. He was fighting at a very high pace in their rematch and seemed strong with no signs of fatigue or slowing in their rematch to KO Hope in round 8.

Strange you should say Proksa has the superior defence. his hands down style leaves him very exposed. He was able to look good against an all but shot Sylvester because of his high work rate.
Imo Golovkin has one of the most solid defences in pro boxing. I expect himto walk Proksa down for the first three rounds before delivering the coup de grace. |

Golovkin has poor ass defence, especially against southpaws. Every recent fight that I've watched with him with a lefty he just goes toe to toe with little lateral movement and as a result takes a lot of punches. no problem so far with that approach but if he does that against Proksa, his chin will be tested for sure. Like Golovkin, Proksa is powerful and accurate.

He basically said that GGG is an incredible fighter with great power. He couldn't get away from him after unloading because of GGG's excellent timing. He wanted to fight on, and was trying different things in each round, but nothing was working for him. A few weeks rest and he will be back in training.

A real tough and spirited effort from Proksa, but Golovkin was all wrong for him. I still think Proksa is a top MW, and will come again. |
