Default HW Vyacheslav Glazkov ?

Just reading about the undercard for Vitlai Klitschko vs Manuel the Marvelous.

Seems there's a new Glazkov on the scene:

Some Ukrainian HW named Vyacheslav Glazkov (12-0, 9 KO) vs Konstantin Airich.

Glazkov won a bronze in Beijing in 2008, FWIW.

--------------------------------------

Does anyone know anything at all about this guy? All I know is the broze medal, his excellent record against completely unknown opponents that actually make Deontay Wilder's opponents look good, and the fact that he kinda' looks like Denis Boytsov.

I wonder if this fight will be televised?

Here he is, looking impressively average, fighting a cross between Valuev and Butterbean:

Here showing pretty good power in both hands, against an absolute nobody:

Looking better here, with good aggression & control, and a pretty solid jab:

OK, nothing amazing, but maybe a solid young prospect?

May have actually won gold in the Olympics put got injured and didn't compete in the semi's instead letting that awful giant Gook go through who then reached the final mainly due to being the home fighter with some disgraceful decesions going his way.Against Daniil Peretyatko is where he looked at his best so far, who fights a bit like Airich.

Glaskov is solid as they come, but his career has stalled since Sam Peter walked away from an onagain, offagain fight that was scheduled for Oct/Nov 2011.

Peter was in training for the fight, but the bout was cancelled 8 wks prior. He stopped training for it, but the phone rang again, 4 wks out. He began preparation, and it was cancelled again after 3-4 days. Then, 10 days out, Glaskovs team said it was on again and that Peter was the opponent. Peter balked at the idea, having been told to cancel his camp something like 3 times over the course of 10 weeks.

Glaskov got Pereyalta on 10 days and has stalled since. He did come back with a decent name in Olokun, but was looking to fast track it by taking Bahtov and Peter in consecutive fights.

Airrich will be a great step in the right direction for Glaskov, if this happens. But seems theyre playing that old game again, and it's hard for me to beleive they got him on such short notice.

Well, it's slated for this Saturday, so I asume it's happening. - But you think Airich is a step up? Hmm. I know nothing about him (you guys amaze me sometimes!) but his record doesn't look all that: 23 (17) - 6 - 2, and he lost to a 267 lb Solis.

Well, at least he went the distance with Solis, and he also faced Tye Fields, so he does have some decent experience. - But fields KO'd him in the first round, so maybe that doesn't really count.

Airich smashed Pala to pieces recently who himself possibly wasn't far of a title shot and has always been a somewhat highly thought prospect of for his young age. Airich was losing every round prior to his KO win but still. He's that type of fighter who has big power but doesn't throw a lot.

Don't tell me he's going to have another fight canceled.

Germany's Airich tests positive after Solis defeat

BERLIN: German heavyweight Konstantin Airich has tested positive for testosterone following his unanimous defeat to Cuba's Odlanier Solis last May in the United States for the IBF Inter-Continental title.
The 33-year-old former German amateur champion can now expect a one-year ban, according to his manager, after losing to Solis, the 2004 Olympic champion, in Pharr, Texas, on May 19.
Airich's future bouts have been cancelled.
"Constantine lost, despite doping, against Solis, but that is not a trivial offence," said his promoter Ahmet Oner after being informed of the failed test
by the boxing authorities in Texas ahead of a later hearing.
"We will end the year, make a plea for mercy and hope that next year Konstantin can get in the ring. At the end of the day, the boy needs to feed his family." [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

I REFUSE to believe this!

The Texas boxing commission actually tested someone for PEDs?

- But man, this sucks.

Here's thought: How about Wilder as a last-minute replacement?

wtf Aside from Pulev and Helenius he's been moved faster than any other HW prospect. Having 6 fights cancelled last year including the Peter fight has been horrible luck but hopefully that will stop.

Solid boxer, but probably too small to be a serious contender.

Glazkov has some decent wins. Bakhtov & Olukun despite their records are very solid fighters with good power who can give anyone a tough fight.

To compare the way he is being brought along to Wilder is laughable, Olukun/Bakhtov & Airich have all been rated at some point while none of Wilders oponents have ever been close to that.

Well, OK then.

You guys clearly know a lot more than I do about all these lower-level fighters. How you can possibly stay on top of so may fighters kind of blows my mind.)

Anyway, def looking forward to seeing Glazkov fight, whenever that might happen next.
