Wit 'does' not equal Intelligence.

Street Smarts versus Book Smarts.

As far as academic intelligence goes,I heard that Primo Carnera was fluent in three languages.

How are people picking Ali as one of the smartest... his test scores were pretty God aweful.

I'll repeat, there are different types of intelligence Ali will be better in some than some of those mentioned and much worse in other areas

Tunney for instance made some moronic statements like saying he could beat a bear with bodypunches and picking Willard to beat Ali and Frazier. It doesn't mean he doesn't have intelligence though

Ali was never mistaken for Imhotep or Confucius by anybody, but he had an uncanny ability to communicate with all types. It was one of his gifts that made him an icon. His intelligence should not be on trial. IMHO he was a brilliant man, in his own way.

George Plimpton said Ali had dyslexia. If that's true, was it ever diagnosed during his years in school? If it was never diagnosed while he was in school his low grades might not be very relevant.

Ali was born in 1942. Most of his formal education would have taken place from the 1940s until the early 1960s when dyslexia was rarely diagnosed.

Some say Ali intentionally tried to fail his military aptitude tests to avoid the draft, but if he had undiagnosed dyslexia at the time it could have caused low scores even if he tried to do his best.
