Do the UFC care outside of Canada, America, Brazil?

They'll keep spreading as a brand but are they spreading as a sport?

The UK card tonight is a strong BAMMA card and the Australia one seems similar. Perhaps a little harsh but they look like fight night cards. Will such locations ever get the real big names again? Would the UK main event even be a co-main event on another card?

Is the perception wrong or are the UFC only concerned with certain markets and trying to use kidology for their cards outside of the Americas???

The UFC better get their act together I watch Bamma, Deep and many other leagues and their product is about as entertaining as the UFC and more televised.

The problem with shows in the UK is that they're all on tape delay. Which means that many people will know through media sources the results of the fights. Which means that if it were a PPV, it wouldn't generate big numbers.

That's why most UK shows are on TV.

That and no way are a bunch of big names gonna be on a Fuel card.

I wonder how many big-name fighters are reluctant to fight in the UK or Australia. A fighter is supposed to be finely-tuned and ready to perform at his best in the cage. To do that, he wants everything to be as controlled, stress-free and familiar as possible.

But in the week or two before the fight, he's got to take a monster plane ride and pretty much reverse his body clock. He knows that whatever happens in the fight, it'll take a couple more days travel to get back home. The distance, time spent away, unfamiliarity of his surroundings and removal from his family and support systems may make him homesick and fuck up his sleeping pattern. And he might have to fight at a weird time for American TV schedules.

It's not like he'd think "I always wanted to visit Australia!" either. He's not a tourist, before the fight he's got shitloads of stuff to do and after the fight he wants to get back to his family.

Maybe I'm completely wrong, but I can see why big-name North American fighters would be reluctant to volunteer.

I dont get why people are so bothered about names, fair enough they could have a bigger main event in the uk/aus based ufc's but i like seeing good fights and tonight card has provided some of the better fights in the last few ufc's.

Half of these guys are just going to trash the fuck out of the UFC no matter what they do.

You see this mindset all the time here.

For example, a few weeks ago scurla watched a free card featuring Shogun, Machida, Vera, Bader, Lauzon and a returning Mike Swick.

Four fights, four stoppages. Three action-filled back and forth wars, one technical masterclass resulting in a one-shot KO. Two former campions involved, four men competing for a title shot. All on free TV.

It was a great card. Great fights, good names, title implications, feel-good comebacks, just a really good MMA card for FREE.

Scurla's only response to it?

Makes a thread about "Vera sucks."

Has exactly nothing to say about the card, other than shitting all over the guy who performed much better than expected, showed tons of heart and gave the fans a dramatic, exciting fight.

That's the mindset. It doesn't matter who they book, or what happens in the cage. On here they'll get shit on every time regardless.

Zuffa has no TV deal in the UK after years of trying. Frankly, the Brits are lucky that they're getting cards at all. MMA isn't mainstream in the UK and won't be anytime soon. It makes sense for Zuffa to focus on the places where they generate the most revenue or any revenue for that matter.

Its strange because Dana had a real hard on for the UK at one point, and Ireland too!

BJ Penn made a long awaited comeback to 155 which could of sold out any arena in the U.S. and the UK got it, Rich Franklin made a tough defence of his MW title in Ireland with Forrest on the card as a young pro!

Then what happened ???, who knows

But the UK deserve better than this
