Naseem Hamed TKO4 Kevin Kelley

multiple KDs , officially 3 each , but i believe that Hamed was actually down 5 times .

gr8 fight .

As usual with Hamed , his off balance style , defense and head movement made it seem like he was hurt more than he was while in fact it saved him from getting hurt more .

Hamed was gr8 @ dismantling aging fighters , but he never tried 2 prove himself while even nearly on d slide due 2 retiring in his prime after losing a decision 2 Barera without being floored or seriously hurt in d fight .

Bobby Chacon TKO9 Danny Lopez

Chacon won every or almost every rd .
He made Lopez miss with most of his punches and repeatedly tagged him .
Lopez made Chacon look impressive

I know that neither man sucked horribly , but 4 a realistic view on Chacon u have his 1st 2 fights against Olivares .

Junior Jones KO/TKO5 Marco Antonio Barera , transl8ed 2 DQ5 on record .

Very competitive and a good fight until Jones KDd Barera near d end of rd 5 and then battered him near d ropes just b4 d end of d rd .

Due 2d fast pace , i was not aware of d possible low blows by Barera and maybe by Jones as well . Also it is possible that Jones butted Barera and cut him by doing it .

Still to this day, THE finest job of anybody convincing the crowd, which in turn I can only assume convinced the judges he was winning. With all his flash and showboating, using his hand speed to mystify everyone into thinking this was not only a close fight, but that he won....The only rounds he won without question were the first 2 Hagler was fighting orthodox in, and the 6th. The rest was Leonard pulling the wool over the judges eyes. Marvin won 7 rounds convincingly, with the last round being even, despite all the running and showboating in the final round by Ray, he barley did enough actual work to make that round even. Just a despicable outcome, in which Hagler was truly robbed by a total acting job, and I really can't blame him for walking away forever after such a total betrayal.

Still aggravates the **** out of me to this day, 7 rounds too 4 with 1 even, or 116-113 Marvelous Marvin Hagler.

I can see how you scored it like that, some rounds were very close. The showboating must have had an effect on the judge that scored it 118-110 (poor card). Personally I think Leonard did land a lot and coped reasonably well with Hagler's onslought for much of the fight. Hagler had trouble finding him and couldn't get him on the ropes enough in the first half. Rounds 3 and 4 were close and probably ended up the difference on mine and your card.

Junior Jones UD12 Marco Antonio Barera (Junior Jones vs Marco Antonio Barera #2)

Jones won rds 1,7,8,10 which makes it a 120-116 in favor of Jones .

I did not love Lane's point deduction from Barera in contrast with mostly ignoring Jones' rabbit punching . Jones' fouling was more deliber8 and easier 2 notice .

Taking in2 account Lane's discrimination it becomes a 120-115 Jones .

Not a bad fight either .

Jones came in with cortisol injected 2 his right hand , and yet even more aged than in their 1st fight .

Barera still failed 2 capitalize .

Hagler truly and utterly ****ed himself in the first couple of rounds by not doing enough work and turning orthodox. If he'd just fought his ass off from the start, it was very much a winnable fight.
I agree. I can see it 115-113 either way or a draw...but on recent viewings I find I give Ray the edge.

It hurts me to do it but just as I give lofty and IMO undeserved rankings I also have to admit that Ray Leonard defeated Marvin Hagler. Even if I don't particularly like the tactics he implemented. Under the rules of boxing, he won. Sorta'.
