Berto..He gasses so quickly in fights, and is part of the reason he doesn't recover well when hurt. He lost his legs early in the Ortiz fight and never got them back...The crazy part is that he has great handspeed with such a bulky upper body.

Exactly. I don't know why people are saying he has no problems with the muscle. He is a 6 round fighter, all that muscle needs oxygen to breath. In the ortiz fight the last 4 rds he was just clinching and trying to stall

and as for gamboa, he is a midget so he needs that muscle.

In that case, how about Ortiz?
Hes built like a mini hulk too.

As for Gamboa,he could if he wanted cut down on the muscle and just fight at the lighter weight.

Seriously guys, having muscle is no determinant of ability of endurance. There are some jacked, muscular guys out there with plenty of skill and endurance. In many cases,it helps them to be better fighters than they otherwise would have been

Curtis Stevens
Frank Bruno
Early Tye Fields (although he wasn't much better when he stopped roiding and got rid of the cornrows)
Juan Urango (especially at 147)
Hernan Marquez has done much better since shedding a few extra pounds of muscle mass
John Mugabi
Shane Mosley at 154
Shannon Briggs

More muscle uses more oxygen, period. A guy with more muscle needs to do more to have better endurance. It's simple biology.

Briggs is the best illustration of too much muscle hindering the performance. And Briggs takes this prize by a long shot.
