Apparently a handful of schools around the country have started up boxing programs. from what I understand they are all private or independent schools and the kids train over a term, then have a fight night within the school. Hopefully the concept catches on and spreads to government schools, though I am highly doubtful that it will.
Anyone here remember when boxing was a school sport, or even better did anyone here compete in boxing as a school sport |

My old man was a 7 stone champ at his school, but he is 70yrs old now.
No schools i can recall have probably had boxing at least 30/40yrs. Government schools will never do this as it will have lefty and greenies up in arms about promoting violence. Schools may have some sort of boxercise classes but wouldn't have one on one fights i'd assume |

i went to a pretty elite private school over here in w.a and we had independent people come to the school and do boxing and combat classes, and you had the option to continue to do that in the future if you were interested, which i did. But it was not associated with the school, great idea if it came to fruition i would be all for it , some of the athletes coming through school sports programs are incredible it would be great for boxing.
