Ali was down a few times, but he took by far the most punishment from this list. He also always got back up, some of the punches he was hit with during his career was pretty surreal.
A big case could be made for george chuvalo as well, the punches he took from Prime FOreman was staggering. THESE FOUR guys on the list definitely got 4 of the best chins in boxing history. Vitali obviously haven't fought anywhere near the punches the other 3 on this have, so we just have to make do with the fighters that he did fight. |

Ali in no way deserves to be on that list. Hagler had good chin, not great one. Vitali seems to have great chin, but one thing is, he does not get hit often. Chuvalo did not have much defense, so he showed he could take shots. George "Scrapiron" Johnson may have had better chin than Chuvalo.

Hagler good chin ?! Are you kidding me, he was never down once from a punch, he was down once in his whole career and it was clearly a push/pull that you can see from the slow motion. He fought guys like Thomas Hearns,John Mugabi ect and never went down from them.

Chuvalo had a good enough defence to not get hit on the jawline too much.
He obviously had a very good chin anyway but went in survival mode every time he got hurt. Ali in the 60s got really hurt by a left hook from Cooper. In his autobiography he said foreman took him to his limits a few times. Vitali has been hurt but never been down, has a lot of confidence in his chin. Except Corrie Sanders if you want to count that as a KD Hagler is the most proven of them all. |

To say Hagler had a good chin but not a great one is completely absurd...he was one of the hardest bastards to ever enter the ring and probably had the best chin in the history of the game.
I just cant imagine a statement further off the mark than that. |

Chuvalo and Hagler are both granite chinned. I wouldn't pick anyone in history to knock either out, around their natural weight division. Chuvalo couldn't be stopped by anyone in history and I wouldn't pick any light heavyweight, including Foster, to knock Hagler down or stop him.
Ali didn't have the greatest chin on the list, though his was excellent. He was one of the toughest fighters of all-time though, with an enormous heart. Vitali has a good chin but he's not been tested enough. Sanders and Lewis both hurt him, so he isn't impossible to stop. He isn't a tough man either and is prone to quitting. |

I am torn between Ali and Hagler...
Those who say Ali shouldn't be on that list?? He was in the ring with some of the hardest punchers of all time... His chin was tested the most against elite power out of that list. |

Thank you i couldn't believe it when i heard Hagler and good chin in the same sentence, i believe Hagler had the best chin in history when have you ever seen him in serious trouble from a punch, Chuvalo however great his chin was has been in situations where he was definatly in trouble, And Vitalis chin hasn't been tested enough to be on the list with these guys IMO.

Chuvalo, no question. Took the best punches from the best era of HWs, and didn't hit the deck, ever. It doesn't get any better than that.

Hagler took the best punches from guys like Hearns and Mugabi and didn't hit the deck once from a punch, Thomas Hearns hit at a heavyweight level and remember Hagler didn't have as muscular neck muscles and took the punches.
