When both Floyd and Cotto were at 140 lbs it was Cotto that didn't want the fight.

I don't believe. nobody took more fighters with undefeated records than him, he took the most feared boxers, heavy hitters like torres or bailey. in 2007 he took on athletic superior fighters to floyd like judah or mosley. cotto always took on everybody.

There are lower profile guys around than these two who have them more than covered when it comes to ducking opponents.

Jack Dempsey

Won the HW title.

Fought once a year.

Never fought a black man as champ despite all of the top contenders being black and being pressured to do so by some of the media (while the other "some" of the media were the ones essentially blocking him fighting a black man).

Retired, which some people on ESB nowadays view as meaning that he ducked all HW's from that point onward.

Cotto rejected an official formal offer to fight Floyd in 2006.

I don't know, but Derrick Gainer was pretty damn good at ducking and being ****ing boring.

His team said so back in 06, and he once again confirmed it in the build up to their fight. "I was not ready for him then." -Cotto

floyd said cotto is not a draw back in 2008 when cotto had just beaten mosley and floyd had just beaten hatton. the biggest fight at WW and even the whole of boxing back then. floyd instead retired and went to WWE to fight big show.

?

So, when Marvin Hagler retired, do you count him as having officially ducked every relevant MW since then?

When Lennox retired, he ducked both Klitschkos for sure. Shoot, and Chris Byrd.

Come on now, be consistent, something that no one here on ESB is.

Dempsey still holds the record (in all weight classes) by avoiding the #1 challenger for seven years.
