How will Sergio be viewed by Mexican fight fans after he knocks off both of thier most prized young fighters? Will they embrace him and become fans or be butt hurt sore losers?

![]() Except it was only one of the biggest fights of the year and Sergio's most prized victory. When you win a fight like that it's a career defining moment. Had Jr won would you have said the same thing? Of course not. You'd still be celebrating, probably calling him a top P4P fighter. You don't have to be a fan of Martinez but to say that win was no big deal is just embarrassing. |

Kelly Pavlik and Paul Williams II are far greater wins than Chavez Jr. Not even remotely close. And the Williams KO is clearly his career defining moment. I'm honestly not sure I'd rate the Chavez Jr. win higher than the Macklin win. And if I did, they would be 3A and 3B. |

Canelo is a much better talent than Chavez jr and he has a great future. JCC Jr is a decent contender at best, and wouldn't be getting even close to the amount of attention/hype if he weren't Chavezs son.

Some people over react like a mofo on here. Dream Killer? No wonder Floyd tries so hard to protect that 0. Retarded fans label fighters as done after 1 defeat. (To the top fighter in the division no less)
Jr. got his ass beat, that is undeniable, but his career isn't over. He will be back, and he will still have a great career. Martinez is the only guy in the division that has the odds in his favor against Jr. Pirog is overrated as hell, and Golovkin would be a 50/50. Canelo is much more talented than Jr. and will reach the pinnacle of the sport. He already has a huge following, so I guess we shouldn't be surprised he has a multitude of haters as well. |

One other thing. Martinez has always had a big Mexican fanbase. He lives amongst Mexicans, so don't try and make it out to be a Mexico vs Argentina thing, when it isn't. I for one have been a big fan of his, for a long time now, and that isn't going to change.

Beating Jr and Canelo still wont stop the fact that he got his 0 taken away by a Mexican!
But seriously, it's pretty much impossible to hate on Sexy Sergio, ive been a huge fan of his since the first Williams fight, and him beating Canelo wont change that one bit. Besides, its not like he would be beating the best mexicans fighters out anyway, since there are at least 3 other mexicans out there better than both Jr and Canelo at the moment.

People make their names off of Mexicans
like PACQUIAO, and like Martinez just did. Mexicans make their names by dethroning hypes or high ranked opponents So it could go either way, Martinez could take out Canelo and be ranked high because of it and JR, or Canelo beat Martinez and all that hype will brush onto him and it could be the start of an ATG career, sky is the limit. @ 22 can't wait to see Canelo career play out. |
